Short history of IISL

1st half of the 20th century – librarian courses

1950 - a two year study programme of librarianship was

established

1952 – Institute of Librarianship at the Faculty of Arts

1967 - Institute of Librarianship and Scientific

New Media Studies -NMS

established 2005

(disobedient) younger sibling of ILS has matured

three main pillars:

◦ game studies – interactive design

◦ visual culture (philosophy and art)

◦ digital humanities

including programming, information science, social media studies,

data visualization, HCI, data management etc.
