2 Configuration in AutoCAD 2012 on client machines There are some things in AutoCAD default settings in AutoCAD 2012 that needs to be
changed to get some features in IMPACT Precast to work correctly.
To access this setting type options in AutoCAD’s command. After changes have been made
you need to shut down your AutoCAD then the changes will be saved.
2.1 Group display mode
Image 11
This setting in AutoCAD that is default checked will give problems when moving element
mark text separately from the element mark. It will also give troubles on elevations when
moving components using grip points.
Image 12
Uncheck the setting Show single grip on groups.
STRUSOFT © 2011.12.05 Page 9
2.2 Show rollover tooltip If this setting is checked the tooltip in IMPACT Precast will not work.

3 After upgrade and before use In IMPACT Precast 11.2 some changes have been done. Some of the changes require
changes to the existing settings and components. There are also new possibilities that can be
used or not (that is described in the recommended part).
All the following steps shall be run from an upgraded client.
Recommended:
To get all the advantages of the new version it’s recommended to do the following:
Barmark definitions
Reinforcement bending schedule
Reinforcement view beams
Reinforcement templates beams
Sloped user defined beam sections
Reinforcement view column
Reinforcement templates columns
Side indication on shop drawing
Material name and description to specification
ELiPLAN export settings
Double dimensions for walls
STRUSOFT © 2011.12.05 Page 12
3.1 Barmark definitions In previous versions, Barmarks where stored in each drawing and distributed to other
drawings in a project by using an IMPACT Reinforcement specific project database. Now
there’s a possibility to store Barmarks in the same database as all the other components or
definitions used by IMPACT Precast.
Just as other definitions, Barmarks can be stored on company, factory and project levels and
subsequently a project specific Barmark will override a factory or company specific Barmark
with the same name etc.
To prevent problems in ongoing projects the use of Precast Barmarks must be switched on
by setting the project property “Use Barmark Definitions” to “Yes”. We recommend only
using this feature in new projects!!!
The same setting can be done in general for all new projects by setting the default value in
IMPACT Administrative tool.
Image 17
There is also a new setting to automatically set mark on straight bars. If you mark you
straight bars today this setting can be good to turn on otherwise leave this as no.
STRUSOFT © 2011.12.05 Page 13
Image 18
To set the up naming of Barmarks on straight bars and stirrups (only used in Double walls
today) you add a setting in IMPACT Administrative Tool.
The text can contain the following macros:
Macro Description
“$DIM” diameter
“$LEN” Cut length of the bar
“$NR[1]” number to start with
“$SHAPE” Shape code
Table 2
Some samples:
Variable Diam Length Shape barmark
“A$NR[100]”
A100
“$SHAPE$DIM$NR[1]” 12 B B121
“A$LEN” 1250 A A1250 Table 3
It’s possible to set up the measure tolerance for match barmark.
Image 19

3.2 Reinforcement bending schedule By setting the project property “Use Barmark Definitions” to “Yes”, Reinforcement bending
schedules can be created from the Project Manager. The samples below show three
different types of reinforcement bending reports.
If you like to use one of them download the export from the link beneath the picture.

3.3 Reinforcement view beam A specific drawing view, View 4 can be created for showing reinforcement on shop drawings
for beam. Whenever View 4 is present, reinforcement drawn by the program will be using in
this view. By using the reinforcement view in combination with layout you can easily create
specific reinforcement drawings in the same way as for walls.
Image 28
Add the view 4 to your standard templates for beams.

3.4 Reinforcement templates beams
The beam definition dialog has a new tab “Reinforcement”, where you can specify the
reinforcement templates for the definition. The dialog consists of three grids; one
“Templates” for showing which reinforcement templates that are defined in the current
definition. The other two grids “Straight bars” and “Stirrups” shows the straight bars and
stirrups defined in the current reinforcement template, which is the template which has the
focus in the “Templates” grid.
Image 32
The “Straight bars” grid is quite easy to understand with columns showing the quality,
dimension and location of each bar in the section. The length of the bars is determined by
the length of the beam reduced with cover distances specified in the dialog.
The “Stirrups” grid requires a little more explaining, first of all stirrups are divided in three
types “First”, “Second” and “Main”.
Precast Plan →Definitions →Section Definitions…
STRUSOFT © 2011.12.05 Page 20
Image 33
“First” is used when you want to add a single stirrup at a specified location from each end of
the beam. You can create a bundle of stirrups by setting “Nbr of” to as many stirrups as you
want in the bundle.
“Second” is used when you want to add multiple stirrups within a specific part of each beam
end. The part is defined by “Location” which is the distance from beam end to the first
stirrup, “Length” which is the distance from the first stirrup to the last stirrup and “Spacing”
which is the distance between stirrups. Just as with type “First” you can use “Nbr of” to
bundle many stirrups together.
“Main” is used when you want to add a stirrup with distribution line, where “Location”
determines the location of the first stirrup from each beam end.
The other columns in the “Stirrups” grid describes which barmark to use, the location and
rotation of the stirrup in the section and just as with types “First” and “Second” you can use
“Nbr of” to bundle many stirrups together.
Since filling in these grids can be quite tedious and time consuming, we’ve provided a short
cut through the use of the following dialog which is displayed when creating a new
STRUSOFT © 2011.12.05 Page 21
reinforcement template. The dialog is divided in different pages, one for straight bars and
one or two for stirrups depending on whether it’s a ledged beam or not.
Image 34
You can also add and remove bars and stirrups for a template by using right-click menu
items “New” and “Delete” from the “Straight bars” or “Stirrups” grids. The “Stirrup” grid
menu also have a special item “Add..”, which will let you add stirrups to the current
template by displaying the same dialog as above but with “Stirrup” pages only .
For each beam element you can use the beam properties dialog to specify which
reinforcement template to use. The bars and stirrups of the selected reinforcement
template will be shown in the section preview control.
The reinforcement template is applied when using AutoCAD-commands “Generate shop
drawings…” or “Draw Template Proposal”. To update reinforcement in beam section use
command “Draw Reinforcement in Sections”.
STRUSOFT © 2011.12.05 Page 22
3.5 Sloped user defined beam sections A new section type, “Sloped User Defined”, has been created for beam definitions. From the
definition dialog you can specify section geometry from a drawn polyline and the sloping on
each side of the ridge. The pictures below displays one sloped double tee beam and one
sloped I-shaped beam.
Image 35
Draw the profile polyline.
Note, the polyline can include circle segments but they are skipped when creating the
element geometry.

Image 38
The “Lifting” page of beam definitions has been changed; a new setting called “Method” has
been added. The setting contains two options “Two lifts in single line” which is normally
used for beams and “Four lifts in two lines” which can be used together with section types
“User Defined” and “Sloped User Defined” to create beam definitions for Double Tees and
Sloped Double Tees. When using option “Four lifts in two lines” you specify the placing of lift
items in both directions.

3.6 Reinforcement view column A specific drawing view, View 4 can be created for showing reinforcement on shop drawings
for columns. Whenever View 4 is present, reinforcement drawn by the program will be using
in this view. By using the reinforcement view in combination with layout you can easily
create specific reinforcement drawings in the same way as for walls.
