What is the I.C.E.E. program?
• A multi-phase concept, where phase one is an ongoing supportive relationship between select Syracuse City School district students and students at a non-SCSD school that provides a performing arts focus.
• The students will create and operate in an intricate support system, and develop valuable, long-term relationships with those students who share a passion for the arts.
• The program’s ultimate goal is also it’s final phase. In this phase, a performing arts school for Syracuse area students would be chartered.
This is not a “field trip”…
This is a program which has been developed for students who have shown an interest and talent for the arts.
These students will ultimately lay the foundation for future cultural exchanges, and will eventually change the scholastic landscape of Syracuse, New York, to include a ground-breaking SCSD performing arts school.

Meet Our Exchange School… MS 224 Manhattan East Middle School for Arts &
Academics
• At the top of five flights of stairs, students at Manhattan East are greeted with a message on a lime green wall: "Congratulations! You've made it to the top!" In this small school, located on the top floor of a Manhattan, NY building, student voices occasionally flood out of classroom doors with enthusiasm for the day's lesson, and parents hold events that celebrate the diversity of the families there. Manhattan East's art programs and accelerated academic classes attract students from across New York City.
• Students perform in jazz band, study dance, and sing in chorus. All 6th- and 7th-graders study instrumental music and may choose wind, brass, or percussion. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, students choose from a wide range of electives, such as ceramics and graphic novels.
