Icanunderstandyourindignation.ItseemslikeImtryingtostuffthemagicofastoryintoasegmentedlittlebox.Butthatsnotmyintentionatall.

Firstletmesaythattheseareguidelines,notrulesofthethoushaltnotkillcategory.

Secondly,knowingtheseplotpointsinyourscreenplaymakesitaloteasiertonavigate100120blankpagesbecauseyouvegotgoalstowritetowards.Theyalsopreventyourscreenplayfromhavinganaimlessplot,whichdrivesmostreaderscrazy.

IthinkthislistisaGREAThelp.AnyonewhohasdoneanythingknowsthatyouALWAYSwanttostartoffwithdirection,especiallyifyourenewtoit.Tojustwingitisalmostneveragoodidea.Justlikemanyothers,Iunderstandthatthesearejustsomegoodguidelinestobeginwithandofcourse,thebetterweget,themorewemaybeabletodeviateappropriately.SomefolksturnsomethinglikethisintoanEnglishprojectandthatswhyitdrivesthemcrazy,butwhattheyneedtounderstandisthatthisisjustsoyoucanhavesomestructureandknowwheretobegin.Thisalsoallowsyoutobreakthescriptdownandfocusmoreondoingmaybe30pagesatatimeratherthantryingtofigureall120outinonesittingorgettoonespotandjustbestuckbecauseyouhavenoideawheretogonext.
