Sport has great commercial importance and popularity.
As a result , theres a need to make the game more
interesting and make it as fair as possible.
Human error plays vital role in decision making at
decisive moments.
There is need to bring a technology to minimize the
chances of human error in such decision making.

Hawk- Eye is a complex computer systemused in cricket, tennis and others game totrack the path of the ball and display a record
of its most statistically likely path as movingthe image.
Hawk-Eye is most innovative technology insports broadcasting and is a developmentthat will reinforce the groups presence andinfluence.
Make the game interesting and fair.

History
It was developed by engineers at Roke Manor Research Limited in 2001.
Hawk-Eye is the brain-child of Mr. Paul Hawkins who had a Ph D inArtificial Intelligence. The
Patent being held by Dr. Hawkins &David Sherry.
It was first used during a
test match between Pakistan
and England at Lords Cricketground, on 21 April 2001.
It was used in tennis 2006 US
Open.

What can it Do?
Hawk-Eye can track any
type of bounce, spin,
swing and seam
movement of the ball.
Giving a prediction as
accurate as percent.
Hawk-Eye was used forreferring decisions to
the third umpire in
LBW.

The Hawk-Eye systembased on the principle
of
is theprocess ofdetermining the
location of a point bymeasuring angle to itfrom known points ateither end of a fixed

How does it work??
Hawk-Eye used six high-
speed video cameras
placed high above the
court to track andmeasure the trajectory
of every ball in a rally.
It can pinpoint thebounce of a ball to
within three millimeters
and measure the skid
and the distortion of the 9

Technology for Hawk-EyeHawk-Eye takes 2
inputs
1. video provide by 6
different cameras
placed at 6 different
place.
2. Speed of the ball. The system rapidly
processes the video
feeds by using the high
speed video processor. 11

Continue.
Hawk-Eye incorporates both image analysis
and radar technology.
Frame rate of cameras are 120MHz.
They track the balls entire trajectory , right
from the point where it is released from the
bowlers hand to the point the ball is
considered dead.

Features of Hawk-Eye technology
The Hawk-Eye system consist of 2 significantparts.
a) Tracking Systemb) Video Replay System

Tracking system
There are 6 high speed vision processing cameras that track
the ball from the bowlers hand to batsman. The system
will automatically calculate the following step:
1. The speed of the ball leaving the bowlers hand.
2. The reaction time for the batsman.
3. The swing of the ball from the bowlers hand to where the
ball pitched.
4. Where the ball was bowled from.
5. How much the ball bounced
6. How much the ball deviated sideways off the wicket(i.e.seam or spin). 14

Video replay system though the tracking data
provides the coaches
and players with the
information for howthey have performed.
The hawk-eye cricket
System can incorporate
more video replay
camera for better
analysis from different
camera angles, whichcan be controlled 15

Application
Its application mainly in sports.
Cricket
Tennis
Snooker and
In some game
Used in military power
Use in automobile industry.

Cricket
HawkEye help to
resolve the following issue:
Would the ball have hit thestump??
Did the ball pitch the line?
Did the ball hit thebatsman??
The single ,2s,3s,4s,6s thatmake up quick-fire 50s orcenturies are represented bythe different colors of the

ApplicAtion continue.
The wheel alignment can
be done by use of this
technology.
Track the enemy location
from far away distance.
The E-2C aircraft used by
US army use this
technology.

conclusion
This technology has met the accurate and
high reality features.
Hawk- Eye is currently developing a system
for FOOTBALL.
This technology can be implemented in any
type of game in our day to day life..
