This column contains transcriptions of the actual gravestones as they exist in August 2014. Compiled by Revd. Doreen Broadbent, Mrs Janet Vidler and Mr Alan Smith There are several of the older flat grave stones that have become buried under several inches of soil over the last 100 years. These have been uncovered and recorded then reburied to preserve the stone from erosion and for safety of pedestrians. NOTE – Grave monuments must comply with Church of England regulations as detailed in the booklet “CHURCHYARD MONUMENTS”, available via the DAC page of the Manchester Diocese Web page at www.manchester.anglican.org All additions or amendments to graves, headstones or monuments must have written approval from the Incumbent and not from Tameside cemeteries.
