Celebrity chef shared desserts at libraryAsweet-toothed audience of

more than 80 peopleexplored the world of deca-

dent desserts with celebrity chef,Anna Olson, on Tuesday.

During the evening, not onlydid Olson discuss the many, manywonderful desserts in her latestcookbook Another Cup of Sugaras well as useful tips and tricks, but everyone also got to enjoylemon pound cake, toffee squares, cookies and cream brownies, pinenut biscotti, shortbread and applesauce cake. Olson is the host of

the television shows Sugar andKitchen Equipped on the FoodNetwork.

Events like these are part of theOakville Library’s goal of providing

interesting adult programs in thecommunity.

Attendees found the event bothentertaining and applicable totheir own lives.

“Absolutely perfect! Interestingand inspirational; incrediblyenthusiastic about her work. Greatevent,” said Lorna Peaker.

“Continuously entertainingand informative,” said Rina Maini.

“I enjoyed the question andanswer period. I will be using hertips the next time I bake,” addedStephanie Kaech.

“I enjoyed finding out about behindthe scenes. I can’t wait to try out some ofthe cooking tips she shared,” saidChristine Szklar.

“She was very witty and funny,” saidHeather Kress.

Similar to her TV shows, Olson likes tofocus her desserts around a themed ingre-dient. Each theme in the new book is pairedwith one simple recipe, which is fast andeasy to follow, and a more elaborate dessertthat’s great for impressing dinner guests.

Olson joined Food Network Canadaafter an appetizing seven-year experienceas pastry chef at Inn on the Twenty inJordan, Ontario, where she met her hus-band, Chef Michael Olson.

In addition to co-authoring the cook-book, The Inn on the Twenty Cookbooktogether in 2000, the pair also own andoperate Olson Foods and Bakery, locatedin the heart of Port Dalhousie, Ontario.
