Getting back into the rhythm of the Fall I will try to be faithful to this column on a weekly basis. I have heard from a few parishioners that they miss my ramblings
that appear here. Thank you for your kindness. I really enjoy this time of the year. The weather is so comfortable and scheduling is back to normal. We begin our School Masses this week. Each of us will be celebrating with our school children the beginning of the year and asking God to bless us all with an eagerness to learn and grow in our journey to the Kingdom. We will also celebrate Masses at UCC and bring God’s blessings upon our young people. On Thursday of this past week I had the privilege of celebrating the Mass for Victims of Abuse at St. Ursula. It is the fourth year that as a Diocese we have offered this Mass to pray for the victims of abuse by clergy. We pray that healing come to these individuals who have suffered as well as praying that this abuse of individuals cease. Thanks to all who participated in this Mass. I will be attending a monthly meeting with the Bishops in London along with the pastors of the newly formed Family of Parishes. The Bishop told us that the mentality behind these meetings is to be on side with all of us as we move forward in this new model of being Church. Bishop Fabbro is intent on assisting us in being the churches that will bring others to Christ. This Wednesday we begin a new session of ALPHA. This is a wonderful opportunity for all to come to terms with their personal relationship with Christ and to renew the commitment we have in following Him. Come and share two hours a week with us and experience a new dimension of your faith! Our Parish Pastoral Council will be meeting on Saturday, September 21st. Looking forward to seeing how we can be more attentive to the needs of our Family.

TWENTY-FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME The courage to forgive
Reading I Exodus 32: 7-11, 13-14 (the golden calf) Reading II 1 Timothy 1: 12-17 (Paul’s gratitude) Gospel Luke 15: 1-32 (the prodigal son)
Key Passage: The servant replied, “Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fatted calf, because he has got him back safe and sound.” Then he became angry and refused to go in. His father came out and began to plead with him. (Luke 15: 27-28)
Adult: When have you persistently sought after a member of your family who has lost his or her way?
Child: Have you ever felt you were not getting credit for good works? What did you do?
LOST AND FOUND Welcome to “Lost and Found Sunday”! Just in case being in church makes us proudly consider ourselves especially religious, today’s Gospel suggests that we’d be wiser to admit that we’re sometimes lost. Then we’ll eventually be happily counted among Jesus’ “found,” because today Jesus focuses on a lost sheep, lost coin, lost son. Jesus does so because the Pharisees and scribes, proudly considering themselves especially religious, “began to complain” that Jesus “welcomes sinners and eats with them.” So Jesus warns them—and us—to stop judging others. Marvel instead that God’s amazing grace has found us! Indeed, we should become Jesus’ friends lovingly trying to find others. So Exodus asks, if God “relented in punishment” and pardoned us, shouldn’t we forgive fellow sinners graciously? Even Paul admits his “arrogance” as “foremost among sinners.” We too, happy at being “mercifully treated,” should share with everyone else Jesus’ unfailing patience. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

St. Vincent de Paul is primarily recognized for his charity and compassion for the poor. Each of us, like St. Vincent can help a neighbour in their time of greatest need. Whether you give your time, talent, or financial support, your contributions restore hope and answer the prayers of neighbours in need.
This summer you generous donations enabled nine young people to attend camp. During the month of August our conference at St. Agnes also provided food vouchers for 11 adults and four children. Thank you for your continued support.
