FLOWERS

Session Focus Children will help to plant flowers in their outdoor environment. Children will take a closer look at flowers. Children will use flowers to make crafts.

Session Outline•Initial discussion: Can the children spot any flowers in their outdoor environment? Do they know the names of any flowers? What do they know about flowers? Can they name parts of a flower? Which creatures like flowers?

• Explain that they are going to help plant some flowers in their outdoor environment to help the bees and their outdoor area look nicer.

• Split the children into two groups; one group planting and the other doing the extension activity, Happa Zome, then swap over.

• Can the children talk about how they can care for the flowers as they grow? (e.g. water & weed them)

Differentiation: LA- Guidance with the activities.HA- Discuss facts and thoughts about flowers.Extension: Happa Zome.You could provide some flowers for the children to dissect, or a flower ID sheet for them to

match the flower types.
