Final Project for AP Biology
Purpose: The Final project is designed to give you the opportunity to research any topic related to our study of biology that interests you. Overview: You will conduct research on a current topic in the news related to biology. Topics can range from detailed scientific discoveries, new technology, to social movements using or reacting to scientific knowledge. You will design and prepare a presentation of your research so to teach your classmates what you have learned. This presentation can be in any format that satisfies all requirements. Requirements (per person)
5 page paper o Typed, 12-pt font, double-spaced, Times, Ariel, or Tahoma font o Minimum of 5 resources (use http://citationmachine.net/ to get correct MLA format) o NO PLAGARISM! Use your own words, and cite your sources.
Visual project
8-10 minutes of presentation materials or educational activity

Presentations start on: Wed. June 10 Paper Content Requirements Include the following in a 5 page, typed paper:
1. Detailed scientific explanation of your topic 2. Real-life implications 3. Reasons for your interest in the topic
Peer Support Requirement Feedback and being attentive to someone’s presentation is important. Part of your grade will include your active participation as a member of the audience during presentation days.

Presentation formats and ideas for visuals: 1. Design a magazine journal (articles, advertisements, pictures, comics, etc)
2. Compile an annotated scrapbook (like a family album)
3. Design a comic strip or a book.
4. Create a computer animation or claymation.
5. Create a 3-dimensional model, mobile, or scene.
6. Make a picture timeline (3D?)
7. Design a poster or collage
8. Create an advertisement and perform it live or taped (turn in typed script)
9. Write a news broadcast, tape it and show the class (turn in typed script)
10. Write a skit. Perform or tape to show the class (turn in typed script)
11. Prepare an activity (or lab) for the class to participate in.
