System Wide Resource Register Webinar
Thank you for joining the System Wide Resource Register webinar. This webinar will commence at
3:35PM.
• If you are unable to play the audio through your device, you can also dial in by calling 020 3478 5289 and
using access code 848 466 259.
• Please ensure that your microphone is switched to ‘mute’ to avoid background noise and your camera is not
in use.
• You may ask questions via the Q&A function (as opposed to the chat function) throughout the Webinar. We
will address as many of these as possible at the end of the presentation.
• Please note that the webinar will be recorded and the audio, chat messages (anonymised) and slides will be
made available on our website.
Should you want further information about the Open Networks Project, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with
us at [email protected]

Current Position on SWRR
• The Workstream 2 Product 1 team are delivering proposals for network companies to put in place a System Wide Resource Register (SWRR) of resources that are connected or contracted to network companies.
• Several options for implementing a register have been assessed so that the Open Networks Steering Group can decide on the preferred option.
• The development takes account of the Energy Data Task Force report recommendations and other industry initiatives in this area.
We would like further input from potential users of the SWRR so that we can better understand and articulate the benefits when making the case for investment in a database, portal or other solution.
We would like your views on SWRR benefits and options, either during this webinar or by providing feedback to [email protected]

With flexibility service platforms (e.g. Piclo) there may be value in a register
of flexible resources capturing capability, pre-qualification etc.
Users access registers for complete, accurate info which is consistent across DNOs
DCUSA proposal DCP350 to establish DER registers was reviewed at the 17th July DCUSA panel
meeting . It was agreed to set up a working group and seek further advice on confidentiality aspects.

Understanding the Benefits of a SWRR
Where is it best to site local infrastructure?
SWRRSWRR
Connection opportunities?
Opportunities to trade rights?
Better forecasts of energy requirements
Opportunities to provide flexibility
Policy review & opportunities.
Savings through flexibility services?
So far only limited support for SWRR:
• Open Networks Advisory Group & DER Connections Steering Group feedback has been mixed. Some would like more accessible data. Others are concerned about costs and data requirements falling on industry parties.
• The ongoing DCUSA mod indicates some support for DNO level capacity registers.
8
Your thoughts on the potential benefits?
We would like to get further feedback from stakeholders to understand how it might be used.
Please can you give us your views on:
• How might a SWRR be used by industry stakeholders?
• What might the benefits be from your perspective?
• What are the most valuable areas of data that might be included?

We are reviewing the EDTF recommendations to ensure that the System Wide Resource Register aligns with the direction of travel on data access.
For example, the SWRR could be one of the Energy System datasets that is accessed via the EDTF’s proposed Data Catalogue.

EDTF – Initial Data Triage of SWRR Data
Customer names, sites and locational data
that might allow specific customers to be
identified are likely to be “Closed” data
unless licence or code changes are made.
Data on the commercial services provided
by customers is likely to be “Shared” data

Preferred Options
We have reviewed options with the Open Networks Steering Group.
As there are significant resource requirements for network companies to prepare and maintain the proposed data, and costs to provide a central database or portal, the Steering Group is minded to initiate Option 1A and/or 1B to improve existing DER information. Information on services provided by flexible resources would also be included.
• What are your thoughts on the proposed SWRR options?
• Is it ok to have separate registers for each network company or should the data be centralised via a single database or portal?
