How would the proposals benefit all road users?

1. Edmund Street / New Church Road junction:

• Reconstruct existing traffic island on New Church Road to maintain 4.0m traffic lanes and 2.0m refuge island. Gap in the island will provide waiting area for cyclists accessing Burgess Park via Addington Square.

2. Improve safety at junctions for all road users by extension of double yellow lines. (Significant number of accidents occur at or near road junctions due to poor forward visibility caused by parked cars (see plan above for number of parking spaces removed at junctions)

3. Brunswick Park / Benhill Road junction:• Wider Footway for pedestrians • Shorter crossing distance and

level crossing for pedestrians across the junction

• Motorists encouraged to reduce their speed on approach to the junction

• Cycle stands
