We off er a few meal schemes designed for students
living in self-catered accommodation or private sector
accommodation. The plans allow students to eat in our
main dining halls, and provide an easy alternative to home
cooking.
Lunchtime off ers choices between a two-course meal or
freshly made sandwiches, and also a salad and snack bar.
The evening meal is a main course together with either a
starter or a dessert, and also features our ‘Taste of the World’
menu.
Our award winning chefs provide a wide range of freshly
cooked meals with each outlet off ering a diff erent style
of food. We can cater for special diets and Halal or Kosher
meals are also available.
Chester provides a range of indoor and outdoor sports
facilities and activities for students. There are plenty of
opportunities to participate in cricket, football, swimming,
basketball, tennis etc.
For football enthusiasts, Chester is ideally placed halfway
between the famous premier league football clubs of
Everton, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City.

Chester Students’ Union (CSU) represents every student
at the University of Chester. With offi ces on both the
Chester and Warrington Campuses, our CSU centre has
been built to improve the student experience. We do this
through social, sporting, and non-sporting activities.
The CSU organises big events with well-known DJ’s, and
also hosts comedy nights, karaoke, quiz nights, live music
and big-screen sports. With a range of clubs and societies,
you will be sure to fi nd one that suits your interests.

The international Offi ce provides a wide range of support
services to new and continuing international students. It is
the fi rst point of contact when international students make an
enquiry or application. Friendly and supportive staff will assist
with your enrolment and induction. We work with colleagues
throughout the University to ensure you settle into life here at
Chester and are able to access the help you need.
We off er a dedicated and confi dential student advice and
welfare department which provides all students with support
to help with any personal, social, academic or fi nancial issues
throughout your time with us. The International Welfare
Offi ce within the department organises pick-up services from
the airport on specifi ed dates before the start of the term,
and issues a ‘Welcome Handbook’ to each new international
student on arrival. We also organise an ‘Induction Week’ for
all new students which includes essential documentation,
registration, and social activities to help you become familiar
with your new surroundings. We will also assist you in opening
a bank account. In addition, we also arrange cultural events
and visits to local tourist attractions throughout the year.

world famous British Heritage cities, Chester welcomes over eight million tourists each
year with a wide variety of attractions. Ideally placed in the North West of England, it is
less than an hour from Manchester and Liverpool, just a two hour direct train journey to
London and close to both the beautiful Welsh coast and mountains. The ancient Roman
walls still surround Chester’s city centre, which along with the renowned Cathedral,
Eastgate Clock, and Roman Amphitheatre, demonstrate its 2000 year old heritage.
