South had momentum formost of the match and took a10-point lead into the finalbreak, but simply ran out ofgas.

The Kangaroos, minus keyplayers Toshie Kunoth andDustin Briscoe, jumped theDemons to lead by threepoints at the first change.

But, it was a four goals toone third quarter whichsparked the game into theKangaroos’ favour.

The defending premiers, who were missing BradleyTurner and lost NathanMutch to a calf injury in theopening minutes, rose to thechallenge and peppered thegoals during the final 30 min-utes.

Jai Pumphrey was every-where for the Demons, whileKangaroos captain CharlieMaher again led from thefront, with Caleb Hart a pillarin defence and up forward.

Pioneer gained a mentaledge against Rovers with a16-point win at Albrecht Ovalon Sunday.

THE top three sidesshowed the clear differ-ence in class in theM c D o n a l d ’ s A l i c eSprings Netball Associ-ation A-grade games atthe Pat GallagherCentre on Saturday.

Wests’ Gillen Clubdefeated Neata GlassGiants 51-29 in theclosest game of the day.

There were only 11goals the difference atthe final change but anear-perfect shootingterm by KathlineCarlile, with supportfrom Dani Wenske, when Wests goaled 86per cent of their shots, made sure the pointswere safe.

Better shooting wasthe story of the game asWests’ led 12-5 at quar-ter time despite havingfewer shorts thanGiants for the period.

Giants fought backand performed better inthe second and thirdquarters, winning thepenultimate term, butWests’ always held theedge even though JessJohannsen was restedfor the second half.

Kathleen Carlile, after playing the firsthalf at wing attack andthe third term at goalattack, was moved togoal shooter for the fin-al term.

And shoot goals shedid — 12 of them at 92per cent as Wests’ ran

away with the game.Sundowners Gapview

scored 30 goals or moreagainst competitionleader Federal TrustyGlass for the fourthtime this season.

But they could notprevent Federal fromrunning away with thebiggest win of the day —69-33.

Federal, with TeganHatzimihail in close toher best dominatingform scoring 14 goals at93 per cent, took controlfrom the first whistle

and led 20-7 at quartertime.

Joanna Sheridan andCrystal Dixon took it inturns, swapping at halft i m e , t o p a r t n e rHatzimihail and itmade little differencewho was in the circle asthe goals kept mount-ing up.

Although it was an-other big loss by Sun-downers, they didenough to stay ahead ofGiants by 3.5 per cent, with two games left inthe season, in the battle

for the wooden spoon.Reigning premier

Memo Rovers didenough to overcome theLasseters Seasons op-position and the cold, ast h e t e m p e r a t u r edropped from the day’shigh of 18.1C at 3.11pmtowards the overnightsingle digit.

They won 58-29 in agame where neitherplayed to their poten-tial.

Seasons, alreadywithout key players MaiS e g i a n d S a n d y

Warner, suffered afurther blow on the eveof the game when CodieFord injured her backand could not play.

But the side battledwith what they had and,at times, again showedthe ability to competeagainst the best.

Rovers showed theirclass and, despite KatiePickett uncharacterist-ically missing her firstsix shots, took earlycontrol and, oncePickett regained herusual accuracy, Roverssteamed ahead.

The Rovers defenceof Carlie Martin andGeogia Brunsdon, withcentre court supportfrom Nicole Ashworthand Shannan Rosier, proved a formidablebarrier cutting offmany of Seasons at-tacking moves.

This was especially soin the second quarter, when Seasons had onlyseven shots for fourgoals, so despite the de-fence of Raewyn Bealeand Loata Quami keep-ing Rovers to 12 goalsthe game had slippedaway.

A highlight of thegame was when Roverswing attack KelseyRodda passed the ballbetween the legs ofSeasons defenderRaewyn Beale to setJemma Pringle up toscore the first goal ofthe final term.
