Description
The Mariner Project is a heavy oil field development on the UK continental shelf. The concept consist of a large PDQ platform (Process, Drilling and Living Quarter), topside weight approximately 31.000 tonne, a jacket substructure, a ship shaped Floating Storage Unit (FSU) for storage and offloading and infield pipelines and cables. Gas for power generation and a light oil for dilution of the heavy oil will be imported. The Mariner oilfield is located in the United Kingdom sector of the North Sea, about 150 kilometres (93 mi) east of the Shetland Islands, Scotland, block 9/11A. It was discovered in 1981 at a depth of about 1,200 metres (3,900 ft) below sea level. Water depth in the area is about 100 metres (330 ft). Estimated recovery is at least 250 million barrels (40×106 m3) of oil.

Description
Gas from the Ichthys Field will undergo preliminary processing at the offshore central processing facility (CPF) to remove water and raw liquids, including a large proportion of the condensate. This condensate will be pumped to a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) facility anchored nearby, from which it will be transferred to tankers for delivery to markets. The gas will be transported from the CPF through a subsea pipeline more than 885 kilometers to the onshore LNG processing plant proposed for Blaydin Point on Middle Arm Peninsula, Darwin, Northern Territory. The FPSO function is to act as an offshore production facilities that house both processing equipment and storage for produced hydrocarbons. It has processing equipment or topsides, aboard the vessel's deck and hydrocarbon storage below in the double hull. After processing, the FPSO stores oil/condensate before offloading periodically to a shuttle tanker which transports the product to a refinery.
