PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY
A Senior Biochemist by profession, having completed a Doctorate in Biochemistry
from the Medical School, University of Manchester, United Kingdom. Experienced
in research in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology fields and worked with the
‘Connective Tissue Research Group (U.K)’ where most of the pioneering works was
done in the Collagen field. My research at the Medical School Manchester (U.K)
developed and excelled in Tissue Culture Techniques to study Collagen synthesis in
cultured avian and mammalian cells. This was one the first research groups in the
world to identify and characterize novel type X collagen in vivo and in vitro.
Experienced in curriculum planning and academic teaching using logic and reasoning.

Contribution to King Saud university
Joined King Saud University in April 2008 when there was a major new shift towards
updating all the major taught and practical courses of the Biochemistry department for
the process of Accreditation of King Saud University. At this critical point, I was
actively involved in designing, writing, editing, and proofreading most of the Practical
courses such as BCH 361, BCH 462, BCH 321, BCH 447. I took an active part in
designing and formatting BCH 497 course objective and included and introduced a
poster day for the Graduate students of the Biochemistry department. I arranged a
successful poster day for Biochemistry Department using my own resources for
printing and designing poster certificates and monetary gifts. By the grace of ALLAH,
now poster day is the main event for graduates in the whole College of Science.
I had the vision for all the gifted and able students, who were not able to find suitable
job opportunity, to be able to participate in research activities and publishing research
papers. For this, I encouraged few graduate students to work in research labs with me,
and Alhamdulillah they published with me.
Interdisciplinary research is vital for the success of any department. In my opinion, no
department can achieve research excellence without the cooperation of inter-
departmental as well as international collaboration. I have promoted interdisciplinary
cooperation within the college of science, working tirelessly with Botany &
Microbiology department as well as the Physics & astronomy department, and
successfully published many research papers in high impact factor journals.
During the last couple of years, I devoted much of my time in hands-on training in
different research techniques with my postgraduate students; most noteworthy were
cell and tissue culture and molecular biology techniques. Some of my trained
postgraduate students are working in King Faisal hospital and were widely praised and
acknowledged for their expertise in cell culture and lab work.
I had a number of publications alone, and with my graduate and postgraduate students
mainly during the last couple of years because of the provision of a feasible research
working environment by the current Head of department. I have at least more than 10
publications during this period and a number of other publications in process. I hope
that in the future, I would continue to benefit graduate and undergraduate students at
King Saud University.
