About the Author
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Madelon Minneboo was born in Ridderkerk, the Netherlands on January 17th 1984. She grew up in Bentveld with her parents and younger sister. In 2002 she graduated from high school (Kennemer Lyceum, Overveen) and moved to Amsterdam to start with medical school at the Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam.
Her interest for research and the basis for her PhD research started in her fourth year of her study, during an internship at the Children’s Hospital - Harvard University, Boston, investigating bone mineral density in children and adolescents with ulcerative colitis od Crohn’s disease.
After obtaining her qualification as a medical doctor in 2010 she worked as a resident at the department of Cardiology of the Medisch Centrum Alkmaar under supervision of dr. J.H. Ruiter. In 2011 she started her PhD project at the Department of Cardiology of the AMC under supervision of prof. dr. R.J.G. Peters and prof. dr. W.J.M. Scholte op Reimer
Her project focused on secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease by improving lifestyle-related risk factors and resulted in this thesis: Less is more in lifestyle-related risk factor management in secondary prevention of coronary artery disease
In September 2016 she started as a cardiology resident. She started her training at the department of Internal Medicine under supervision of prof. dr. S.E. Geerlings. She will continue her clinical training under supervision of dr. M.M. Vis and dr. R.B.A. van den Brink at the department of Cardiology.
