TIPS ON NETWORKING WITH BRANDSAT FNCE
Spend time doing your research before attending FNCE. Are there target/dream brands attending that you’d like to work with?
Find out which brands from your area will be at FNCE, research who head of marketing is (LinkedIn), introduce yourself at booth.
Attend any events you are invited to while at FNCE (breakfast, dinners, cocktail parties, etc.). Don’t be shy – introduce yourself, hand out business cards, express interest in working with that brand.
Follow up with target brands upon your return home. Stay in close touch, keep them updated on what you are doing and what you can offer them.

PLANNING with PURPOSE
Planning with Purpose
● Planning ahead - why you're going and what you're going to do at FNCE
● Always look presentable and WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES.
● Have a strategy before you attend● Don't go to lectures if you have no interest in
the topic.
● Lectures are long and detailed. Spend your
time wisely.
● Take notes and have some questions ready for
the presenter after the lectures you attend -->
Be purposeful in your questions

MAKING CONNECTIONS
Making Connections
● Network at lectures, breakout sessions, mixers, and receptions
● MAKE CONNECTIONS! ● Get phone numbers, emails, or connect via
social media --> Follow up with those connections after FNCE and stay in touch
● Attend the Expo with thought and purpose ● Don't take everything just because it’s free!
Carrying all that swag around and having to travel back with it can take a toll.
● Have fun and explore the city FNCE is held in ● Learning and connecting with peers and
mentors is fun, but take some time to attend some city tours, DPG events, and site seeing on your own. Alyssa Haberman, RDN

Getting mentally prepared to talk to a
bunch of people!
Listen well to what others say
Mixers, workshops, and dinners
Order businesses cards, organize my calendar, and get plenty of sleep.
I have no idea! That’s why I’m attending.
Talk to at least 2 people. Exchange information. Follow-up within 2 days
with an email. Make additional connections to stay connected with
those 2 people.
Hold my drink in my left hand, so my right hand is warm to shake... mingle, chit chat,
connect over something so basic as geography connections, light humor, mention
what I do.. hand over my business card
No ritual, just lead with intention to connect
with no expectations!
I don't have a ritual - but open to learn!
