Brand valuesThe erbas™ brand mark features two intersecting
orange rings, representing our working philosophy
with our clients. We believe that ‘We’re in it together’,
this means that we’re not happy until our clients are.
Every project is important to us and for over 20 years
we’ve been focused on growing our business
through this philosophy of shared responsibility.
The erbas™ brandmark represents us now and in to
the future. Whilst our philosophy hasn’t changed
that much, the way we work has. We’re more
nimble, flexible and adaptable, but we’re still
collaborative, diligent and experienced.
Our brand identity is a reflection of our brand values;
Integrity, Progressive, Care and Accountability.
erbas™ SUSTAIN recognises the importance of
sustainability to be treated as not just a bolt on
service, but a dedicated discipline that can both
complement traditional building engineering
services and also exist as an identity of its own.
As designers, we have a unique opportunity to affect
positive change in the world through the systems
we engineer. What better way to meet the needs of
building users than to help the planet simultaneously
by reducing the impact those buildings make.
Integrity – we always act with integrity toward our clients, our partners and our staff.
Progressive – we use new technology and trends to enhance ideas for our clients.
Care – we take the time to understand every person; we value their thoughts and ideas.
Accountability – we take our responsibility on each project seriously. We’re committed to making each project the best it can be.

requirements to complement erbas™ SUSTAIN in
achieving client objectives.
erbas™ SUSTAIN also performs modelling for Green
Star projects including daylight, thermal comfort,
energy, etc.
WELLWELL is an international tool increasingly used as
a standard for improving health and wellbeing of
building users. erbas™ SUSTAIN has the expertise
to incorporate design elements to promote
happiness, advance productivity, and enhance
health benefits of building occupants. We provide
advice from concept, design and through to
construction on aspects of thermal comfort,
lighting comfort, materials, acoustic comfort,
healthy eating, etc., to achieve WELL certification.
erbas™ SUSTAIN has experience in advising and
consulting with wide-ranging stakeholders to obtain
WELL certification including service engineers,
architects, landscape architects, interior designer,
facility managers and operators, contractors,
sub-contractors, and project end-users.

BESSThe Built Environment Sustainability Scorecard (BESS)
is regularly used to assess the sustainability attributes
of project design for council compliance. Through
close collaboration with our multidisciplinary design
team, erbas™ SUSTAIN can advise on categories
of management, water, energy, stormwater, IEQ,
transport, waste, urban ecology and develop
innovative sustainability initiatives. We manage the
scorecard and continually update inputs as the
design progresses.
erbas™ SUSTAIN is also capable of assisting in
coordinating document preparation for BESS
submission and working through the
application process.
EnviroDevelopmentEnviroDevelopment is a sustainability certification
tool that focuses on areas of ecosystems, waste,
energy, materials, water and community. It is
applicable to a wide range of developments
including masterplanned communities, residential,
commercial, retail, health and aged care.
erbas™ SUSTAIN is capable of providing input from
concept development to certification through
detailed design coordination, management of the
EnviroDevelopment scorecard and collation of
documents for submission.
GRESBThe Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark
(GRESB) is an annual benchmarking survey designed
to showcase to investors the sustainability attributes
of property owners and developers. It assesses the
environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives
of the organisation and their building portfolios.
The performance is benchmarked globally and a
GRESB score is awarded at the end of the assessment.
The assessment period is typically between April to
July, with results released in September.
Property owners and developers new to GRESB
have a one year grace period whereby the first
year results would not be publically disclosed. This
gives organisations an opportunity to improve their
ESG performance in the following year. erbas™
SUSTAIN can assist clients in the coordination and
collation of supporting documentation of their
GRESB assessment and manage the submission
portal on behalf of the client.
We can also conduct a gap analysis to identify the
current status of the organisation and its assets, or
analyse a client’s previous submission and suggest
improvement opportunities to enhance their
GRESB score.
Environmental and Sustainability Reportingerbas™ SUSTAIN provides environmental reporting
services for the performance of a building or
a portfolio of buildings in energy consumption,
water consumption, greenhouse gas emissions,
and waste generation. Our team identifies
improvement opportunities such as system
upgrades or behavioural changes, and compares
the condition of the asset or assets in comparison
with the wider industry. This complements well for
buildings with ongoing NABERS targets.
We are also experienced in providing inputs to
sustainability reporting, which extends beyond the
scope of environmental performance, including
areas of social and governance. The appetite for
reporting in today’s market focuses on principles
of reliability, transparency, relevance, etc. erbas™
SUSTAIN can provide services in Global Real Estate
Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB), Global Reporting
Initiative (GRI), and Integrated Reporting (IR).
Council ComplianceSustainability Management Plans
erbas™ SUSTAIN provides services to assist clients
in preparing Sustainability Management Plans
(SMP) for council submission. Different councils

nature of the project. We seek to address specific
local stipulations and integrate environmental
requirements together with the design team.
erbas™ SUSTAIN also prepares reports for submission
to council town planning.
Water Sensitive Urban Design
erbas™ SUSTAIN conducts stormwater quality
assessments for council compliance and

raingardens, etc. This is coordinated closely
with the design team to ensure initiatives are
implemented. Our team complements the services
provided by our civil engineering team.
BASIX

Rhodes Community Hub, NSW
erbas™ | erbas™ SUSTAIN was appointed as
the Green Star accredited professional working
with Crone Architects for the new community
hub in Rhodes.
NCC BCA AssessmentsEnvironmentally sustainable design incorporates
passive design principles which optimises form,
orientation, layout and glazing distribution of
buildings in relation to its climatic location. When
addressed in early stages of a project, erbas™
SUSTAIN can propose design options that would
greatly reduce building energy requirements.
The principle of passive design is to incorporate
optimal use of solar energy. Building design should
aim to capture winter sun energy and reject
hot summer heat. Such could be achieved by
considering the following:
• Glazing performance and distribution;
• Shading design that reduces summer heat and
admits winter sun;
• Building orientation;
• Daylight access.
Deemed to Satisfy and JV3 assessments
erbas™ SUSTAIN is experienced in delivering Deemed
to Satisfy (DTS) assessments and optimising building
fabric and glazing systems. Where the DTS outcome
is not practical, the team strives to design a solution
via JV3 modelling. We balance environmental
performance and project costs and work closely
with architects and the design team to develop
cost-effective design options that meet the client’s
vision for the development.
Design considerations for JV3 assessments include:
• Providing uniform glazing;
• Minimising use of expensive glazing with high
performance specifications;
• Retaining existing building fabric elements;
• Improving construction and cost-optimisation
opportunities.
NatHERS
Our capability includes NatHERS modelling of
residential-type developments and providing
advice on improving energy efficiency through
optimising building design. This includes exploring
options in shading, orientation, building material
construction and glazing systems.
