I Know He CanDo you remember the story of “The Little Engine That Could”? In
the story, there is an engine that is asked by toys to carry them over the mountain in order to be placed into the hands of the children on the other side. The engine had never been over the mountain before, and isn’t sure that it even can. The toys cheer the engine on and all the while, the little engine says… do you remember? “I think I can; I think I can!”
As your pastor, there are times when it feels like we are in an uphill battle. Times like staff change, new ministry starts, or even the singing of a new song. When those times come, there is little advanced warning about the outcomes. “We’ve never been over that mountain.” Too often too many churches stay at the base of mountains afraid of the journey, but not Quail Creek. We believe that God is on the move and hasn’t even begun what He has in store at His church.
It’s time to move our thinking from “I think I can” to “I know He can”. Let’s begin to pray for God sized things to happen. Let’s devote ourselves to prayer and fasting, asking that God would move like never before. Let’s dive deeply into time in the Word individually and together as a church. Let’s turn our attention to a hurting world in need of a healing Savior. He can heal! Let the celebration begin! Let the walls of the church echo with the praises of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is worthy! He is Holy!
The Little Engine did make it. It seemed like a struggle to get over the mountain, but the little engine just kept going. A church that focuses their attention on Jesus will make it over the mountains that are before it. I want to end with a thought on what I believe is happening today. The tracks are shaking, and the whistle is blowing. You can hear and see the steam rising. The sunrise is coming into view over the horizon. We are about to experience revival like never before at Quail Creek. Keep going…keep saying it… “I know He can; I know He can; I know He can!”
