Lessons from an Innovative Organization
While it now has years of expertise in providing Innovation Consulting to its customers TCS as an organization also fosters an innovation culture TCS has recognized and implemented various models and types of innovation. With the help of some of those propagated by innovation guru Prof. Clayton M Christensen, we are able to classify the value and depth of innovative measures taken by the IRC over the past years. Based on this, the IRC has found it conducive to draw from the organization’s framework and mandates and implement progressive measures in its own development assuming commensurate levels of high standards, vision and growth.
Lessons from an Innovative Organization
The TCS IRC underwent a change from around 2004 which gradually helped change the profile of the department. It was quick to recognize that sustainability lay in the creation of a well-equipped workforce, with definable processes and goals and a holistic vision. With this recognition came the realization of the need of structured practices, and a strong vision to build a good service line. Clarity along these lines helped to bring it out of a low profile operation into a well-regarded service that considered ‘evolving’ an integral part of the process. It grew subsequently into a unit comparable with other similar global facilities. It has been an interesting journey to where we stand today.
