CelebratingWeeklyLiturgyatHomeDate:July5thTheFourteenthSundayofOrdinaryTimeTitle:JesusRevealsMysteriesofGod’sKingdomFocus:Jesusisgentleandhumbleofheart–Hegivesusrefreshmentandrest;tobechildlikeinouropennesstotheKingdomofGod.Context:Today’sGospelrevealsJesus’kindnessinwelcomingallandHisgoodnessinofferingHimselftothepoorasthesourceofrestandpeace.Peoplecarrymanyburdensinlife,buttheheaviestistheweightofsin.Jesus’messageandcureforthisheavyburdenistocometohimandrest.ByplacingGodfirstinourlivesandbringingeverythingtoHiminprayer,wecangrowinourfaithandknowledge.CatechismReference:TheKingdomofGodisknownonlythroughrevelationfromJesusChrist,theSonofGod.WhiledemandsoflivinginaccordwithChrist’steachingsinordinarylifemayseemburdensome,doingsohelpsbringaboutHisKingdomofjusticeandpeace.(CCC787,2046)DidYouKnow?...thatPsalm145,whichwehearasectionfromthisSunday,waswrittenasanacrosticpoem?Eachlineofthepsalmbeginswithadifferent,successiveletteroftheHebrewalphabet.TheBookofPsalmscontainstextthatwasintendedtobesettomusic,andsoitissometimesmorepoeticinnaturethanthemorenarrativepartsoftheBible.Prayer:LordourGod,justastheraincomesdowntowatertheearthandmakeitfruitful,soyousendforthyourwordtodoyourwillintheworld.Maythiswisdomfromheaventakerootinourheartsandbearfruitinholywordsandlovingdeeds.ThroughChristourLord.
