LIVING IN AND AROUND CAMPUS AT UEA
July 2018
WELCOME TO UEA.MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME.
UEA isn’t just an inspiring place to study, it’s also a great place to live. Just like our campus, student accommodation at UEA is designed to help you make the most of your time here.
UEA is a safe, friendly, comfortable and fun place to live, and all students are guaranteed a room on campus in their first year (subject to conditions). A range of shops, several bars, a collection of eateries, the Sportspark, Drama Studio, Library, the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts and the LCR live music venue are all within a few minutes’ walk.
Our accommodation includes some award-winning architecture. Norfolk and Suffolk Terraces have been placed in the top 10 best examples of university architecture in the country by The Architects’ Journal.
We offer specially adapted rooms for wheelchair users, with the option of other modifications if you have restricted mobility or need personal support. UEA’s accommodation buildings also house wardens who are there to support residents with any worries or concerns they have about their living arrangements.

Our homestay accommodation is where you live with a local family based in the city or nearby towns. This offers great value city living and a home away from home experience. You will be given your own private study bedroom in a shared family house. There are different bathroom arrangements; from en suite to sharing with the family or other guests. The majority of homes are within walking distance of the city centre. Every homestay family is different and so an allocation does not necessarily mean you will be staying with a conventional family of two parents with children.

You will be carefully matched to a host family based on personal preferences and requirements.
Homestay offers students the opportunity to practise their English and experience British culture.
Many British people enjoy providing international students with a place to stay and value having someone from a different country living in their home, sharing their daily life and integrating with their family.
