It’s
language.
The Handshake
#1

LIGHT
MEDIUM
HARD
The Wet Fish
The
Bone-Crusher
The Fingers-Only
The
Shake
-and-
Cover
REMEMBER
It’s more than a
greeting.
It’s a message
about your
personality and
confidence.
In
the
old
days

Mirroring
#2
When one person copies another person
(subconsciously) while interacting with them:
GESTURES
movement muscle tension
EXPRESSION
tone & pitch
eye movement
BREATHING
attitudeWORD CHOICE
Most common?
Caused by
‘mirror neurons’
YOU CAN USE
MIRRORING TO:
1.
establish quick, easy rapport
2.
build trust and understanding
3.
create an impression of shared
attitudes, values or ideas
TO MAKE A CONNECTION
WITH A NEW PERSON:
Mirror his or her
body posture
GESTURES
sitting position
TONE of VOICE
& talking pace.
This will make them feel there’s something about you that they like.
Let’s try a
body
language
audit.

WHAT’S
Bitchy Resting Face?
BRF‘Bitchy
Resting
Face’
An involuntary facial expression that implies a
person feels superior to, or is annoyed with, those
around her – even though it may just be…
THEIR
ACTUAL
FACE
"People make
social judgments
about others
generally within
about 100
milliseconds of
viewing a face."
- Megan L. Willis, PhD,
Judging Approachability
on the Face of It
TIPS TO HELP
YOU AVOID
‘BRF’:
1.
Part your lips slightly to relax your
facial muscles.
2.
Tilt your head, exposing your
neck.
3.
Smile with the lips and the eyes,
Let’s try it.
And
on that note
