At the end of this, with the descending B flat Major scale so
simple, it is a hard heart indeed that is not melted almost
to tears. What is the music saying? That all our sacrifices

What is the link? Well, Tavener’s twin brother also suffered
from a hereditary heart condition, and was wheeled into
the operating theatre listening to this piece.
The only honest reaction to the Klemperer is to play itagain, it is so explanation defying...
But clearly it, too, speaks of peace...but peace obtained only
after a Titanic struggle.
And it’s good to here it now, not long after Tavener’s death,
and when his website looks a bit gone to seed and down-at-
heel. His time will come back.
