• Massachusetts
• British seeking colonists’ ammunition supplies
• British win Lexington; Patriots win Concord
• The Revolution has begun
Bunker Hill: aka The Thrill• Although we lost, it was quite a thrill!!
• June, 1775; Boston
• Patriots line hills of Boston and hope to take control of the area
• Takes British 3 attempts to finally defeat Patriots
• Patriots surrender because they ran out of gun powder
• British lost many soldiers, even officers
• Even though we lost, it can still be seen as a victory!
• March, 1776
• Colonists lined the hills of Boston
• British feared another Bunker Hill , and abandoned Boston
• Patriots now control Boston
Victory @ Boston
New Jersey.. w/out Snooki• December 24-25, 1776
• Gen. Washington and his men cross the Delaware River and surprise attack British
• British celebrating Christmas and are unprepared
• Patriots win; Gen. Washington great leader
Saratoga: The Turning Point• Fall, 1777
• New York
• British troops invade through Canada; do not realize the dense forest situation
• Move 1 mile/ day, tons of cargo
• Patriots have time to prepare; use militia to misguide and attack British
• Patriots are victorious
• Allies; French and Spanish recognize colonies as independent and support their cause
Yorktown: The End, k bye.• Virginia, fall of 1781
• General Cornwallis leads British, General Washington leads Patriots
• Cornwallis believes he has control of Chesapeake Bay; access to supplies and emergency evacuation
• Patriots attack by land, French Navy and Washington attack by sea and block off bay
• Patriots surround Cornwallis and his troops and force surrender
• Patriot victory prompts treaty talks
