THE JOURNEY STARTS HERE
Laughter and lively conversations fill the hallways. Questions and opinions ricochet around
the classrooms. Art projects adorn the walls, science projects line the windowsills, and music
echoes from the auditorium and cheers ring out from the athletic fields.
THE JOURNEY STARTS HERE
This is The Agnes Irwin School—a place where girls take chances, discover their strengths,
and excel across a wide range of academic subjects and extracurricular pursuits. A place that’s
small enough to feel like a real community, but big enough to inspire a sense of adventure.
A place where girls are confident. Engaged. And excited about what lies ahead.
READY SET DIVE IN
Agnes Irwin girls not only embrace learning,
they immerse themselves in it. Whether it’s
bringing ideas to life in the kindergarten
invention convention, dissecting frogs in fourth
grade, taking playwriting classes in middle
school or preparing for the senior assembly.
AIS girls form strong bonds with teachers and
peers. They learn to speak their minds and to
think freely. To challenge themselves. And to
follow their curiosity wherever it leads—which
may be somewhere completely unexpected.
LEARNING TAKES MORE THAN OPEN BOOKS it takes open minds
We believe that a rigorous education
shouldn’t be a rigid one. Teachers at AIS
draw on a range of teaching approaches,
incorporating innovative educational
concepts and continually adapting and
refining their methods to support
how girls learn best.
Hands-on activities, independent and
team projects, and cross-disciplinary
learning invite girls to come at problems
from multiple angles—so they see the
bigger picture. Challenging? Yes.
Exciting? Always.
At Agnes Irwin, you can. Whether you’re outgoing or shy, funny or serious, artistic or athletic,
or a little bit of everything. AIS girls openly express who they are and what they think and
believe, knowing their voices will be heard and appreciated. And no matter what their talents
or interests—from science to sports, music to math, community service to computer science—
they can delve in and flourish. Without reservations, distractions, or limits.
be yourself
BE TRUE
BE TRUE
CELEBRATE THE THINGS YOU HAVE IN COMMONand also the things you don’t
AIS is an open and embracing place, with a true feeling of camaraderie and common
purpose. Here, traditions thrive and lifelong friendships are made. There are strong
connections between students and teachers and teachers and parents, too.
There’s no such thing as a typical “Agnes Irwin girl.” Our girls represent a diverse range
of talents, backgrounds, and life experiences. Which makes our community that much
more vibrant. And that much stronger.
WHICH HATS will you wear?
WHICH PASSIONS will you pursue?
WHICH RECORDS will you break?
The classroom isn’t the only place for students
to succeed at AIS. They might hit their stride
on the field or on the court, with one of our
41 athletic teams. They might get involved
in dance, drama, music and art. Or they might
become community leaders joining one of our
student boards on athletics, arts, diversity or
community service and other areas of student
life. At AIS, endless roads are open. Endless
opportunities to dare, to lead and to shine.
What girls learn here
OUT THERE
Agnes Irwin is a place that’s open to the wider world. A place where students are encouraged
to look outward for a more global view and inward for a sense of self. They discover how
important—and gratifying—it is to make a difference, through community service, special
studies programs and more. They discover that when you change your perspective, you
might just change the world.
The future awaits
OPEN THE DOOR
OPEN THE DOOR
Helping girls unlock their potential starts
with fostering their confidence. Inspiring
them. Challenging them. Until, finally, they
discover that they are holding the keys. And
they realize just how many possibilities are
open to them going forward.
Graduates of Agnes Irwin go on to attend
top colleges and universities and pursue
rewarding and meaningful careers. They stay
in touch with their classmates, and connect
with other alumnae. Most important of all,
they take the confidence, thoughtfulness and
enthusiasm they have developed here and
carry it with them for the rest of their lives.
