All Altar Servers and Parents, As we enter the Lenten Season, we are reminded of the sacrifice and temptations our Lord went through for 40
days. Let us keep this in our hearts and minds as we are asked to serve in our ministry. Thank you for the
sacrifice each time you make it to our practices as well as serving at Mass when you are scheduled. I also
know that there may be temptations to not come to practice or to not serve at Mass, but let us overcome these
temptations. I pray we will continue to grow spiritually in our commitment to our ministry as altar servers with
the support of our parents. During Lent, we will have practice every Wednesday starting March 4th, 11th, 25th
and April 1st. at 5:00 PM. We will also have our Saturday practice on March 14th at 10:00 AM. Let us
commit to growth in spirit, mind, and service as we attend each practice.
With God’s Grace,
Adrian Canales
Adrian Canales
D ear Parishioners, As we begin the Season of Lent we remember how Jesus comes to save us, give us help, and enable us to grow by
overcoming temptation. We work with His grace by praying more and with more piety, by fasting from not only
food, but also sin, and by giving to those who are in need and organizations that help the poor. Every second collection
during Lent is for Catholic Relief Services that feeds millions of people around the world. In the back of the church there
are "rice bowls" you can take home and then bring back at the end of Lent with your contributions. This week I will be particularly focused on prayer as I go on my annual canonical retreat this Thursday with the Sisters
of the Presentation of Mary at their retreat center in Biddeford, Maine. Retreats are not luxuries, they are necessities. If
we say, "I don't have time for a retreat," we are saying "I don't have time for God." Let that sink in. He made time for us
by sending His Son to live, suffer, and die for us. The least we can do is spend some time with Him. At the minimum I
recommend a "desert day," not a "dessert day," that's completely different, but a day when you are just by yourself with
the Lord. This can be as simple as shutting off your phone and praying at home without distractions or getting away to a
deserted place like Matagorda Island to enjoy God's beauty. This Lent we are called to a deeper relationship with God,
we just have to make that our number one priority. We are certainly God's number one priority. Shouldn't He be ours?
With Love,
Fr. Philip Brune
Congratulations to Marcus and Kaitlyn Sanchez and
Victor and Gabriela Sanchez who were united in the
Sacrament of Marriage last weekend!!! May God
continue to bless you as you grow in holiness through
your vocation!
