Congratulations and well done to all students who visited Gosford for the Malynley Shield. I believe the event to be a positive experience for all involved and especially the opportunity for our students to experience first-hand life in another school and community. Supported by a number of very positive emails from parents who billeted our students and also teachers at Gosford, I would like to commend the conduct of our stu-dents. In the end, the scores were very close with only a few points separating the two schools in the final result. Congratulations to the team from Gosford on their win this year. We look forward to hosting their school at Orange High in 2017.
Congratulations to our boys Under 14 League Team for their recent success at regional level. It is good to see strengthening league sides coming through. In their latest victory to become Western Region Champions, the team delivered a very convincing 26-0 victory over Mudgee last week. Well done boys!
Congratulations to our senior debating team who have once again been successful defeating Lithgow High in the semi-final of the Western Region zone of the Premier's Debating Challenge. The topic was - “that we should ban international surrogacy”. Orange High was the negative and we were able to successfully argue that this practice should not be banned. As a result of their win, the girls will now debate against Dubbo College on Tuesday the 14th. If they win, they will be Western Region Champions for their age division, for the sixth year in a row. They will then debate against the Riverina champion in the Inter-Regional Final to be held Friday the 17th June. Congratulations Freya Hawke, Eleanor Delaney, Isabella Bankovic and Alexandra Boyd on another excellent performance.
The painting of the external of our main building is now well underway, albeit interrupted by the weather.
While there are always a range of opinions when colour is involved, overall there has been much positive comment about the refreshed colours by staff and students.
The work at present is all occurring on the northern side away from the street.
I look forward to a positive overall effect of our new façade and colours from the street frontage.

A Western Region indoor soccer competition was held last week in Bathurst for DEC students with disabilities. Six school in
our region competed, with Orange High School support students coming third on the day. Even though it was “freezing” in
the hall, all our students enjoyed the day and look forward to competing again next year.
Congratulations to the Year 12 Debating team on
their win against Lithgow High School in the
Western Region semi-final.
They will now debate against Dubbo in the Western
Region Final with the winner to take on the Riverina
