JUSTIFICATION:
• Increasing transport and handling of dangerous good requires a structured approach regarding safety, health and environmental management
• Insufficient awareness regarding safety, health and environmental management
• Need for capacity building of port staff and management

OUTPUTS:
1. PEMSEA’s port, safety, health and environmental management system development and implementation guidelines reviewed and adapted where necessary to a common system for Mekong inland waterway ports and terminals.
2. Mekong PSHEMS development and implementation guidelines explained and distributed to other ports and terminals.
3. Technical support and provisions for the training to port personnel on the development of a PSHEMS prepared and carried out.
4. Two ports/terminals selected for pilot projects for Mekong PSHEMS implementation.

• Discussion of existing PEMSEA PHSEMS system and adapt it to
• a common system for Mekong inland waterway ports and terminals.
• Prepare guidelines for ports and terminals and provide assistance to the implementation of the system
• Carry out pilot projects in ports and terminals where the system is implemented
