Drug peddler nabbedwith 95 grams Charas

STATE TIMES NEWS BHADARWAH: Police on Friday arrested a drug peddlerand recovered 95 grams Charas from his possession.

According to reports, during a Naka at Chinar Mohallaon Eid Gah Road, SDPO Bhadarwah intercepted a personcoming from Sungli towards Bhadarwah on suspicion andduring checking Charas like substances weighing 95 gmswas recovered from pocket of his jacket.

The accused has been identified as Mohd Rafiq son ofAbdul Gani Ganai resident of Sultanpura Nagar Bhadarwahand a case vide FIR No 08/2019 under section 8/20 NDPSAct was registered against him in Police Station Bhadarwah.

Earlier in the year 2011, a case FIR No 149/2011 under8/20/22 NDPS Act was also registered against him whichwas Challaned in the Court of Law," said SHO BhadarwahMunir Khan.

The arrest of accused was made by police party of PoliceStation Bhadarwah along with SOG personnel headed by HCYaqoob under the supervision of SHO Bhadarwah InpMuneer Khan, SDPO Bhadarwah Aadil Rishu, ASPBhadarwah Rajinder Singh and overall supervision of SSPDoda Shabir Malik.

KATHUA: Excise Department destroyed 970 Kgs of Lahanduring different raids carried out to arrest the menace ofillicit distillation and sale of liquor in Excise Range Kathua.

In the process more than 970 Kgs of Lahan raw material ofillicit liquor was recovered by the raiding team from Stateland and was later destroyed on spot.

As per thedetails, on a spe-cific informa-tion, BanihalPolice laid a spe-cial Naka at TChowk Banihaland signaled aperson comingfrom RailwayStation Banihalside who wascarrying a blackcoloured bag.During search,63 pieces of sap-phire like mineral were recovered from the bag. The accusedidentified as Mohd Shafi Zargar, son of Ghulam HussainZargar, resident of New Samna Colony Kishtwar was arrest-ed and a case vide FIR No.07/2019 under Section 4/5Sapphire Act was registered against him at Police StationBanihal. The recovery has been made by a police team head-ed by Insp Aijaz Ahmed Wani SHO Police Station Banihalunder the supervision of Sajjad Sarwar SDPO Banihal andSanjay Parihar Addl SP Ramban and overall supervision ofAnita Sharma SSP Ramban.

SAMBA: Three people got injured when the vehicle in whichthey were travelling turned turtle on border road near VillagePaloora in District Samba. The injured have been identifiedas Sunil Kumar (30), son of Bahadur Singh, resident ofKungwala, Mamta Devi (28), wife of Ashok Kumar, residentof Paroora and her son namely 5 years Anshuman. Accordingto the report, the mishap occurred during the interveningnight, when a vehicle without registration number comingfrom Samba side turned turtle on middle of the road near vil-lage Paloora as driver lost control over it. Some villagersassembled and rescued the occupants and shifted them toDistrict Hospital Samba for treatment from where doctorsreferred them to Government Medical College and HospitalJammu for further treatment. Police has taken cognisance ofthe matter and started investigation.

23 vehicles seized, 40 drivers finedfor traffic violations

STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: Police seized 23 vehicles and fined 40 drivers forviolations of traffic rules in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouridistrict, officials said. During a drive, several police teamschecked vehicles in the past two days and seized 23 vehiclesthat were plying on roads without requisite documents, theysaid. Drivers of 40 other vehicles were fined for violations ofvarious traffic rules, they added.

Kidnapped minor recovered,accused arrested

STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: A kidnapped minor girl has been recovered andthe accused arrested by police in Rajouri district.

Two months ago, a man from a village of Darhal lodged awritten complaint in Darhal police station and complainedthat his 17 years old daughter has been kidnapped by a boynamely Mohammad Shafiq son of Abdul Rashid resident ofDhangri area of Rajouri. On this, a case FIR no 87/2018under sections 363 RPC was registered and during thecourse of investigation the search of girl was conducted atmultiple places.

Finally today a team of police headed by SHO DarhalHabib Ul Rehman raided a location in Rajouri during whichthe kidnapped girl has been recovered from Rajouri townarea while accused has also been arrested.

After legal formalities, girl was handed over to her legalheirs while investigation has been started and questioning ofaccused is going on.

Senior Superintendent ofPolice, Yougal Manhas andMedical Superintendent,Dr. Mehmood HussainBajar besides other staffwere present.

The drug de-addiction,skill development, counsel-ing and rehabilitation cen-ter, has been equipped withadequate infrastructure totreat drug addicts aspatients. Currently the cen-ter has 10 beds, even as fur-

While speaking on theoccasion, DeputyCommissioner said drugaddiction and substanceabuse affects the capabili-ties and energies of theyouth and it is the responsi-bility of all stakeholders towork together and eradicatethe menace, which is grow-ing at an alarming rate."Besides de-addicting thedrug users, there is need toaddress the major reasonswhich provoke the youth totake drugs. Drug abusemakes the youth dependent,incapable to face the chal-lenges and finally takestheir life" he said.

He said the district

administration in associa-tion with the Police admin-istration has taken initia-tives for the physical, men-tal and skill development ofthe youth of the district.

She enquired about healthcondition of the head of thefamily namely Nizam Din,son of Bali Mohammad ofWard No. 4, who was injuredwhile trying to extinguish thefire that occurred due toshort circuit. As many as 44 Sarpanchsfrom block Drabshalla, Bounjwah, Palmar,Thakrie and Warwan took part in the 4 daystraining session under Ist Batch. The DDCcongratulated the participants for undergoingtraining with great enthusiasm and passion.He hoped that the training session will help theSarpanchs in the smooth delivery of theirduties in accordance and consonance to theprovisions of J&K Panchayati Raj Act. Heasked them to monitor the punctuality ofteachers, other staff to develop work cultureat the grass root level.
