Please give me vacant council house pleads mum

Coroner’s warning to young girls about the dangers of dieting

“I CAN’T believe anyone would refuse a councilhouse because of a lack of space for atrampoline. All I want is a roof over the headsof my sons. I would take anything.”Mum-of-two Samantha Lees, , age 25 fromGlanmire, said she is facing homelessnessnext month because she can’t afford the renton a private house. She applied for the countycouncil’s social housing list five years ago, butsaid a mix-up with the forms meant she wasonly officially put on the list in May last year.It was revealed this week that 60 offers weremade to people on the waiting lists for homesin Fernwood, Glanmire — but so far 26 of themhave been rejected by applicants. no space for a trampoline. Samantha, wholives with her five-year-old son Daniel andthree-year-old Andrew, said: “I can’t believepeople are so fussy. I am desperate to put aroof over the heads of my sons. All I want is aplace for them to sleep at night, somewhere wecan call home. I don’t care what size it is, or ifthere is a garden. I’m panicking, because wehave nowhere to go from next month. It isdisgraceful that there are people on thehousing list who don’t even want a house. Theyare only on the list to get Rent Allowance forprivate homes. It is clogging up the wholeprocess. Then there are people like me, whowould love a council house, but can’t get one.”● See page three for more.
