The hearing into the death of Gráinne O’Donoghue, was told she died suddenly on January 4, while watching television at home weighing 6.5 stone. The coroner was informed at yesterday’s in- quest in Cork city that the teenager, of Fernlee, Kilnagleary, Carrigaline, had been battling with eating disorders for seven years before her death. However, her devastated father Denis said she had only officially been diagnosed as being anorexic a year before she died, despite her family’s best efforts. Assistant state pathologist Dr Margaret Bol- ster told the inquest that she had died from sudden cardiac arrest associated with low po- tassium against a background of anorexia and bulimia. A 19-year-old girl with a history ofanorexia died from a heart attack as aresult of the eating disorder an in-quest has been told.
