From t h e New York Times v i a Ernie Cooper comes word t h a t e l c t i o n day i n Guyana w i l l be Dec. 1 6 t h ; look f o r Radio Demerara-760 a n t t he BGBS s t a t i o n on 560 on t h e mi of 12/17. Nost of u s s t i l l need BGBS.

Due t o my ever-changing work schedule, p o t e n t i a l hol iday mai l delays (not n e c e s s a r i l y a ho l iday phenomenon, e i t h e r ) and t h e need t o allow a b i t e x t r a margin on t h e publ i sh ing end, t h i s s ec t ion w i l l be c u t on Mondays U.F.N. Some of you may have not iced weak s i g n a l s from VvNBC and WCBS t h e l a t t e r p a r t of November. The two s t a t i o n s s h a r e a common t o w e r ivhich

were us ing a 300-foot tower. Last month they both went back t o t h e emergency 200-foot tower e rec ted a f t e r t he acc iden t , and had t o reduce power t o 1 0 kVf ap i ece while t he 300-foot tower was dismantled and the permanent one e rec ted . The permanent tower (500 f e e t ) i s now up and both s t a t i o n s back on 50 kVt power. The long delay was p a r t l y due t o t he need t o f a b r i c a t e t h e tower base i n s u l a t o r . Those of you whose DX was b e t t e r than average on 660 and 880 r e c e n t l y may be i n t e r e s t e d i n t h i s .

J e r r y S t a r r now has a 2-mech. f i l t e r inboard i n s t a l l a t i o n i n oper- a t i o n . This i s i n a HQ-180, I might add. Quite a f e a t ! Congrats, Jerry. Yours Truly has added a new scope t o t he " junkpi le" , a Eycon 627-R. It has t r i g g e r e d sweep, extremely l i n e a r a t 1 Hz and DC coupled; i t ought t o be good f o r SAH work when I ge& a 3WP7 tube f o r i t .
