MSM GROUP Ltd. was established by transformation of MSM Martin Ltd., which dealt with construction, development, production and sales mainly with military material. MSM Martin Ltd. in the last few years took over several military companies located in the middle of Slovakia, and built on its traditional manufacturing activities in military and civil production.

Due to ZVS inclusion into the group structure we can state that the origin of MSM GROUP Ltd. comes back to 1927 when then Škoda Works in Plzeň, as a monopoly producer of ammunition decided to build so called „spare factory“ in Slovakia. The company was totally destroyed during the World War II, and it took several years while the production was restored to such extend, that its products were supplied not only for the Ministry of National Defence, but for many countries worldwide as well.

Today the MSM GROUP Ltd. makes use of rich experiences from the past and know-how of highly qualified workers and vast archive of technical documentation for all necessary procedures.

In 2009 the biggest Czech military holding EXCALIBUR ARMY entered MSM as a co-owner.

Ammunition production

ZVS Dubnica nad Váhom The factory ZVS is situated in Dubnica nad Váhom in the west part of the Slovak Republic, approximately 130 km from Bratislava, the capital city of Slovakia and 180 km from Vienna. Dubnica nad Váhom is connected with Vienna via highway.

The company manufactures various types of small, middle and large caliber ammunition and associated charges, fuzes and primers for guns and cannons. The company offers a wide range of 30mm ammunition for 2A42 cannon, 125mm ammunition for T-72, 155mm ammunition for 39, 45 and 52 caliber guns, 122mm ammunition for D-30 Howitzer, 81mm, 98mm and 120mm HE mortar bombs and transfer of technology for production, testing and assembly of small, medium and large caliber ammunition including variety of components. The company has been certified for the manufacture and sale of ammunition according to ISO 9000 and AQAP 2110.

The origin of the company comes back to 1927 when Škoda Works in Plzeň, as a monopoly producer of ammunition technics decided to build so called „spare factory“ in Slovakia. In 1937 started production of large caliber ammunition for the Ministry of Defence of the Czechoslovak Republic as a subsidiary of Skoda Plzen Factory.

A huge production development has been recorded since 1970 up till 1990 not only with regard to the production of large caliber ammunition, but especially because of increased quality level, when a production of guided as well as non guided rockets was launched. The most famous and acknowledged systems of that time in the field of non-guided missiles is a family of 122mm HE rockets GRAD.

This period of history brought new designs to gun-howitzer and tank systems and hand in hand with it came modernization of its ammunition. Very well known is 125 mm HE, HE-T Practice ammunition for T-72, 122 mm HE for gun-howitzer D-30 and self propelled version 2S1, 120 mm HE mortar bombs and 152 mm HE rounds for self propelled gun-howitzer DANA, cooperation in 122 mm extended range rocket system.

Following types of newly designed and upgraded ammunition systems have been incorporated into company‘s manufacturing portfolio since 1998: family of 30mm HE-T, HE-I, AP-T, HE-T Practice cartridges for 2A42 and 2A38 guns, 81mm HE mortar bomb, 98 mm HE mortar bomb,125 mm APFSDS-T round for T-72 and family of 155 mm rounds.

The range of company products is very large taking into account the fact, that it manufactures all fuzes and their mechanical parts, primers, pyrotechnical elements, pyrotechnical mixtures, shells and other mechanical components for above mentioned ammunition.

Completely new field of production and development is small arms ammunition (currently manufactured: 9 x19 mm FMJ Luger, 7.62x39 blank and shotgun cartridges gauge 12, 16, 20) and pistols.

Since its outset, the company has provided consultancy services, re-engineering and transfer of technology for its customers, for example turn-key projects for production of small arm cartridges, different fuzes and ammunition components.

At the beginning of 2015 company MSM GROUP Ltd. took over ZVS together with several other companies operating in defence area located in the middle of Slovakia with the target to build on its traditional manufacturing activities in military and civil production.

MSM Trenčín The company MSM Martin, s.r.o., branch Trencin specializes primarily to repair military wheeled and tracked technics, modernization of military and special vehicles, spare parts sales and manufacturing of mobile containers of series ISO 1C.

The company has been established in 1918 in Bratislava as a main car repair workshops for Western Slovakia. Later the company has been moved to the Trencin city. After the World War II. the factory was rebuild and focused on military trophy technics. Since 1994 company implemented the technology to repair tanks, BMP and overhaul of UAZ vehicles. The company also provided installation of the simulators of T-55 and BMP. In the civilian sector, it offered mobile workshops used for field repairs the construction of water projects, highways, maintenance of pipelines, etc.

An important milestone in the history of the company was 2005 when it began production of light armoured vehicle Aligator 4x4, by which our army was equipped with.

In 2006, a state joint-stock company Vojensky opravarensky podnik (Military Repair Company) Trencin was established and in the same year it has been reached a permission to perform an authorized service TATRA vehicles to which provides spare parts and perform warranty and post-warranty service.

At the 1st January 2014 was company incorporated as a branch plant into the MSM Martin Ltd. At the beginning of 2015 has been established MSM GROUP Ltd. which is covering several companies operating in the defence area included very well known ZVS company, and MSM Martin Ltd. also. By this step our plant gained the strong partners and significant covering.

MSM Martin Ltd. plant Trencin has a modern diagnostic centre of wheeled technics and emphasizes the expedition and quality of the goods and services that are its trademark of reliability and customer satisfaction.

MSM Nováky In place of the present company was already in 1937 established an ammunition warehouse, which later in 1949 became part of the 7th Armoury located in Trencin. At the end of 1950 in Nováky was created 51. Command Artillery base, which was subordinate several other ammunition stores in Slovakia. In 1957, the base began activities related

to the service ammunition, which had in its scope, with a focus on ensuring the entire life cycle of ammunition (repair, revision and disposal of artillery and rocket ammunition). In September 1961, the base was reorganized to military repair plant, a state company. The company also produces school, train and piercing ammunition and under its portfolio, offers technologies and capacity both for defense and for the civilian industry.

Since the special production launching the plant repaired and prolonged life cycle of 55 thousands tonnes of ammunition up to calibre 152 mm, produced 5 millions of hand grenades RG and 1 million of training ammunition and disposed 100 thousands tonnes of ammunition of calibres 30 – 130 mm and rockets both for solid and liquid propellants.

At the 1st January 2013 was company incorporated as a branch plant into the MSM Martin Ltd. At the beginning of 2015 has been established MSM GROUP Ltd. which is covering several companies operating in the defence area included very well known ZVS company, and MSM Martin Ltd. also. By this step our plant gained the strong partners and significant covering.

Today the factory makes use of rich experiences from almost 80 years history, know-how of highly qualified workers and vast archive of technical documentation.

MSM BystricaEstablishing the state-owned enterprise Letecke opravovne Banska Bystrica (Aircraft Equipment Repair Shop) in 1947 as well as its further development was directly related to the new setup of the Air Force in former Czechoslovakia. From the early beginning, the company was focused on electrotechnical production, servicing military air traffic and

air defence control systems, remote control systems, meteorological equipment and in short period also ultralight aircraft manufacturing.

The former state-owned enterprise was gradually transformed to joint stock company in 2006. Later in 2009 it merged with VOP Trenčín (Military Repair Company), and from January 1st 2014 it was incorporated as a branch plant into the MSM Martin Ltd. At the beginning of 2015 has been established MSM GROUP Ltd. which is covering several companies operating in the defence area included very well known ZVS company, and MSM Martin Ltd. also. By this step our plant gained the strong partners and significant covering.

The main activities of our plant are nowadays focused on design, manufacturing and servicing of the radio navigation systems (NDB) for air traffic control (civil and military) as well as repairing and modernisation of various kinds of Armed Forces equipment, especially in the segment of air defence equipment.

Another important product in our portfolio is own development and production of Ground Power Unit (GPU) for the aircraft starting.
