Six Extraordinary Fŭ
• The characters of six Extraordinary Fŭ
– The shape of the Extraordinary Fŭ is
similar as Fŭ. They are hollow inside.
– The functions of the Extraordinary Fŭ are
similar as Zàng. They focus on storing.
Six Extraordinary Fu
• Functions:
– Controls intelligence
– Brain is the Sea of Marrow and controls
sight, hearing, smell and taste.
Brain
• Brain is the palace of the Original
Shén.
• Lĭ Shí Zhēn (Ming dynasty)
• Head is the palace of essence and intelligence.
• Huang Di Nei Jing
Brain Controls Intelligence
• Spiritual Axis Chapter 28:
When the Qì of the upper part of the body is
insufficient, the Brian is not full and there may
be hardness of hearing, tinnitus, drooping of
the head and blurred vision.
Brain Is the Sea of Marrow and
Controls Sight, Hearing, Smell and Taste
• The relationships of Brain and Zàng Fŭ
– Heart and Brain affect each other, they work
together to keep the normal condition of Shén.
– Lung and Brain depend on each other
– Spleen uprising pure Yáng to Brain
– Liver regulate the circulation of Qì and blood
– Kidney Jīng produce marrow to support Brain

• The relationships of Marrow and Zàng Fŭ
– Kidney governs bone and produces Marrow.
– Qi and Blood support Kidney Essence to produce Marrow.
‘Spiritual Axis’ Chapter 36: The refined essence of food and drink
is changed into fat, it enters the bone cavities and fills the Brain
with Marrow.

• Functions:
– The Bones are the structural
framework of the body
– The Bones are cavity that
houses Marrow.

• The relationships of Bone and Zàng Fŭ
– Bone is governed by Kidney. The functions
of Bone is supported by Kidney Essence.
And the conditions of Bone reflects the
conditions of Kidney.
Bone
• Functions:
– Blood Vessels house Blood and are the
vehicle for the circulation of Qi and Blood.
– Blood Vessels transport the refined food
essences, Qi and Blood all over the body.
Blood Vessels
• The relationships of Blood Vessels and Zàng Fŭ
– Blood Vessels are governed by Heart.
– Spleen Qi is a very important power to support Blood Vessels
holding the Blood in.
– Kidney essence contributes to the filling of Blood Vessels.
– Qi and Blood fill in Blood Vessels and move in Blood Vessels.
Blood Vessels
• Gall Bladder is a Fŭ at the same time an
Extraordinary Fŭ.
• Refer the introduction of Gall Bladder in
chapter of Fŭ.
Gall Bladder
• Functions:
– Regulates menstruation
– Houses the fetus during pregnancy.
Uterus
• Governing Vessel ( Dū Mài), Directing Vessel (
Rén Mài), Penetrating Vessel ( Chōng Mài) all
start from Uterus in Women
Uterus and Extraordinary Vessels
• The relationships of Uterus and Zàng
Fŭ
– Kidney and Uterus
– Heart and Uterus
– Liver and Uterus
– Spleen and Uterus
Uterus and Zang Fu
• Kidney Essence condition decides the time of Tiān Guĭ
coming.
• Kidney Essence condition affects the condition of
menstruation
• Kidney Essence condition affects conception
• Kidney Essence condition affects pregnant condition
Uterus and Kidney
• Heart is connected to the Uterus via the
Uterus Vessel. So the condition of Heart
has strong influence on Menstruation.
• Heart governs blood. Blood nourish Uterus.
• Heart Yáng supports Kidney to produce
Tiān Guĭ.
Uterus and Heart
• Liver stores blood to support
menstruation, conception and
pregnancy.
• Liver governs dredging and releasing,
which supports menstruation coming
regularly, properly and smoothly.

• Spleen and Stomach are the origin of
blood and Qi, which support
menstruation, conception and
pregnancy.
