The University of Limerick (UL) would like to invite you to
come take a close-up look at our city, to share your
understanding of our challenges and our opportunities in
collaboration with Limerick City and County Council.
Spend a semester with us gaining practical experience and
exploring issues of social responsibility. Be part of a multi-
disciplinary team and develop your problem solving and
communication skills with real-world experience in
Limerick’s communities.

WELCOME TO LIMERICK - Treasure Hunt
Exploring Irish identities as they are shaped by
our past and own understandings of ourselves
in narrative and verse. Partnering with local
community writers groups to expand your knowledge of literary
Limerick. Learning how to enhance creative engagement by
developing your writing skills in a supported community
context. (Weeks 3-5)
CREATIVE ENGAGEMENT AND THE CITY
Focusing on Ireland’s experience of the global
financial crisis and examining the impact on
local communities, you will be introduced to
community groups working with UL on the
CWELL Diploma programme. Taking an inside-out look at a
community and a co-designed initiative to improve health
literacy, and personal and professional growth, to lead and
sustain positive change. (Weeks 6-8)
POLITICS, POPULISM & SOCIAL CHANGE
Experiencing how Ireland has been re-
invented as a place of inwards migration for
EU migrants and new Irish citizens, and seeing
the ways that ‘traditional’ Irish culture shapes and is shaped by
new migrant cultures. Meeting Limerick’s newest communities
working with UL staff to promote Limerick’s inter-culturalism.

END OF SEMESTER CELEBRATION - Public Exhibition
