Who owns the internet?

• There isn’t a owner or an organization that controls the internet and its users. The internet is a public ownership that can be used by anyone, but countries can control the internet by blocking sites that can be inappropriate for users.

How do you connect to the internet?

• To connect to the internet a modem or a broadband is required

But there are more thing you would need to connect to the web such as ISP , Cable Modem and off course a computer, to set up and use the internet.

The Internet • TCP/IP : Stands for Transmission Control Protocol, this enables

two users to establish a connection and exchange data, so if data is send from one user to another, the data is delivered the same way it was sent.

• WWW: stands for world wide web, this is a type of system that has a collection of HTML documents that can be accessed and used through the internet. E.g. you would use this in the web search bar, ( www.google.com )

• Browser: is a system or a form of application that is used to access and use the internet

• Internet Address: This is like a specific code that is assigned to the computer or any electronic devices.

• Web Address: This is a certain address or site that can be accessed by typing the it in the web search.

• Surfing the web: This usually referred to when a person is visiting or exploring the web from one particular webpage to another one.

• Finding information using Directory services: A directory service is a software system that stores, organizes and gives access to information for users. 

• Finding information using a web address: This is when the user is looking for a particular site or information, they would use this method of accessing information through a web browser.

• Finding information using search engines: Search engines are sites such as Google and Yahoo, these sites can redirect users to the information they are looking for.

• Finding information using a Web Bot: This is a software that is said to be able to find out about future event by tracking down keywords.
