What Now? “I have to be honest with you. This pandemic has gone on too long and I’m really struggling with it. Covid 19 has changed everything and I don’t like it. I feel like I’m stuck in an endless snowstorm, spinning my tires, can’t get out, and the more I spin, the deeper into the rut I get.” Those are words Bishop Laurie Skow Anderson shared with us in a recent email. When I read those words I thought, that’s me!! If we are all honest, we would agree that to one degree or another, we are all struggling and stressed by the uncertainty about when will this be over; the grief over the cancellations and losses, the fear - what if my loved one gets sick? - and the anger caused by all the arguing around this pandemic. My favorite new word that has come out of the pandemic is “coronacoaster.” It is an apt description of the emotional amusement ride we all have been on. In times of great uncertainty, it is critical that we focus on the promises of Christ which are certain and un-changing. So let me share a few verses from scripture for you to hold onto.
• Isaiah 40:29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
• Isaiah 40:31 But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
• Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
• Deuteronomy 31:8 The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
When I started looking at verses, I just couldn’t stop. I was remind-ed of the great God who loves us unconditionally. When things get tough, it can be easy to focus on ourselves and our difficulties. Read these Bible promises about who God is and let them lift your eyes away from your own situation to the God who is infinitely good. Pastor Sue

ALL SAINTS’ SUNDAY “All Saints’ Sunday” will be celebrated at Zion on Sunday, November 1st. As part of the liturgy we will remember those friends and members of Zion who have died in the past year, and those whose names have been submitted by loved ones. You may light a candle in memory of loved ones during the service. Forms are available at the Outdoor Worship Services. Names may be given to the church office by Wednesday, October 21st.
FAIR TRADE REFRESHED! While there are still some products left on the ½ off sale, we have ordered and restocked so stop in to the Gathering Area and check out the 24/7 product dis-play! Let’s support the small, independent farmers working with Fair Trade!

We are tentatively planning face to face worship beginning November 1. As we begin to reopen in the physical facility (church) that the people of God gather together in, here are some important considerations (subject to change based on the cur-rent situation) for our safety. PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING: Per current CDC and state guidelines, and ELCA recommendations, maintaining a 6 ft social distance between people is important to help prevent the transmission of COVID-19. Refrain from touching others. WEAR A MASK: Per current CDC and state guidelines, and ELCA recommendations, masks are required, with the exception of children under the age of two and those with underlying health conditions. If you forget your mask, we will have one available for you. IF YOU ARE NOT FEELING WELL, PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE BUILDING. More information about procedures will come in a follow-up mailing.
