Tauranga Goodness Grows Here Half Day Tour ( 3 hrs )Our 3 hour tour runs in the morning and again in the afternoon offers an up close encounter with all which the local region has to offer. This option is not onerous on your time or your energy. Sit back and relax for a couple of hours whilst we look after you. Drive alongside the pristine beaches of Mount Maunganui, hop out onto the beach and feel the sand beneath your feet, the views are stunning so this is a guaranteed photo stop. Continue on through the community of Papamoa, before departing south to the kiwifruit capital of New Zealand. Te Puke has a thriving farming sector – based on dairying, cattle, deer and sheep. Tauranga Extensive Sightseeing Tour (5 hrs) This tour gives you extensive overview of Tauranga, Mount Maunganui and beyond at a leisurely pace. Come along and experience an extensive mix of sights and attractions, hear the local history, view our pristine white sandy beaches and seaside resort of Mt Maunganui and Papamoa. First stop is Kiwi 360 to hear all about New Zealand’s kiwifruit industry which makes up 25% of our local GDP. Enjoy tastings of NZ Kiwifruit, green & gold varieties, juices, wine, preserves or maybe an ice-cream. At Experience Comvita, the newest attraction in the Bay you will enter a “Virtual Beehive” and learn all about the wonderful little bee and health benefits of NZ Manuka honey. We traverse the countryside northwards to overview the surrounding area and look down on your cruise ship. Rotorua Geothermal Wonderland Full Day Tour (7 hrs) Departing the port of Tauranga, cruise the seaside resort of Mount Maunganui, enjoy pristine white sandy beaches before heading for the open highway in the countryside. First stop is Kiwi 360 to learn all about the Kiwifruit, do a little tasting of this wonderful fruit, the juices, wines, liqueurs and preserves. We continue through the edges of the Kaingaroa forest before arriving in Rotorua. Take a lunch opportunity alongside Lake Rotorua before entering into the only authentic living Maori Village of its kind in NZ.

Hosted by the local Maori, see & learn how they live on top of the geothermal wonders of Mother Nature and use it for their everyday living needs. Cooking in bubbling hot coloured pools, or steam boxes on the ground, bathing in outdoor hot pools and carry on everyday life whilst geysers erupt and steam escapes the many fumaroles. It is raw and natural and not a purpose built tourist attraction which gives it real authenticity and has to be the most unique place in NZ.

Rotorua Geysers & Kiwi Bird Full Day Tour (7hrs) Departing port of Tauranga pass over the Harbour Bridge into Tauranga City, before heading south. Travel across farm land before going through the Pyes Pa Canyons. First stop is a little walk in amongst the beautiful Californian Redwoods en-route to view Hamurana Spring’s crystal clear water, as you walk alongside the banks you may see Rainbow Trout swimming in the current. Next we drive through the Agrodome & Agroventures playground, stop to admire the local NZ sheep, and many other animal which may be out in the fields. e.g. – bulls, ducks, goat’s alpacas, emu’s and ostriches. You have now seen some of our local fauna & flora, so let’s venture forth to visit the geothermal region and immerse into Maori Culture.

Arrival at Te Puia, NZ Premier Maori Cultural Centre. You will guided around the Thermal region, where you can experience Pohutu Geyser, bubbling mud and steam vents from underground. There will be time to visit the Kiwi Bird House. Then it’s off to experience one of our most entertaining forms of storytelling - kapa haka (Mãori performing art).

Wai O Tapu Geothermal Wonderland Combo (8hrs) Departing the port of Tauranga, we travel direct to Rotorua and beyond to catch the Lady Knox Geyser erupt at 10.15 daily. She’s an awesome sight of boiling hot water spurting some 20m. Discover the wonders of Wai O Tapu which is considered to be the most diverse & colourful geothermal attraction in the region. The highlight being the boiling Champagne pool of vibrant colours caused by mineral & silicate interference.

We then travel back into the city some 30 mins away to enjoy lunch beside Lake Rotorua before entering into Whakarewarewa Living Maori Village, the only one of its kind in New Zealand. Meet the local Maori and be guided around their village whilst they showcase how they have learnt over the past 120yrs to harness the powers of the active geothermal which they live atop of to aid their daily living needs e.g. Cooking in brightly coloured bubbling pools, bathing in communal outdoor hot baths. See the famous Pohutu Geyser erupt up to 35m high and experience a Maori Cultural performance before departing back to your ship. Hobbiton Movie Set & Rotorua Thermal Wonderland Combo Tour (8hrs)This is a very full day’s itinerary which utilizes your time ashore exceptionally well and you get to experience two of New Zealand “Must See” attractions all in one day.

Depart port of Tauranga, cross over the harbour bridge to Tauranga City before heading across the Kaimai Range into the lush farmland of the Waikato. Soon arrive at Hobbiton Movie Set film location set amidst a large sheep & beef farm. Spend an informative 2 hour tour around the movie set location. Stand under the party tree, walk past the Hobbit holes, imagine yourself amongst the characters. Bilbo Baggins was no typical hobbit, he did not want adventure, but you will have to come and see why he was so reluctant to leave the comfort of The Shire. At the conclusion of your journey you get a special treat in the Green Dragon Inn where you will receive a local shire ale, cider or ginger beer along with a Hobbit Style lunch.

Lord of the Rings Hobbiton Movie Set Tour (5.5 hrs)Departing port of Tauranga; we first cross the Harbour Bridge, which offers great views of The Mount, 232m high and marking the entrance to the harbour of Tauranga. We then climb up to over 1000 feet to cross the Kaimai Mountain Range, which divides the Bay of Plenty coastal region from the Waikato district, the main dairy farming area of New Zealand. We soon arrive at Hobbiton; the movie set location for the village in the Lord of The Rings films. Here we will be met by our private guide for an informative tour around the movie set location. Your tour starts with a drive through the picturesque 1,250 acre sheep farm with spectacular views across to the Kaimai Ranges. Your guide will escort you through the ten acre site, recounting fascinating details of how the Hobbiton set was created. Stand under the party tree, walk past the Hobbit holes, imagine yourself amongst the characters. Nestled deep in the rolling hills of the Waikato, this location was chosen for its unblemished landscape. Image boards are strategically placed at key locations which allow you to see how this beautiful piece of Waikato farmland was transformed into The Shire from Middle-earth.
