The YZF-R15 mounts a new 155cc liquid-cooledSOHC 4-valve fuel-injected engine to achieveexcellent power and a high top speed. The enginehas a 58.0 — 58.7 mm bore — stroke and a 11.6:1compression ratio, and produces a maximum 14.2kW (19.3 PS) of power at 10,000 rpm and amaximum 15 N-m (1.49 kgf-m) of torque at 8,500rpm.

Deltabox FrameThe new YZF-R15 adopts a new Deltabox frame withsuperb rigidity balance. With a Deltabox frame, thetop and bottom of the head pipe and the pivotpoints form a triangle, hence the “Deltabox” gives itexcellent rigidity balance.

Variable Valves Actuation(VVA)This is the �rst ever high-performance VVA systemthat provides torque for ease of use even at lowRPM. There are two intake valve cams: one for low-to mid-range rpm and another for high rpm. Theyswitch between each other at the 7,400 rpm mark toensure good power and torque is presentthroughout the entire rev range.

Assist & Slipper ClutchAn A&S (assist and slipper) clutch is adopted toreduce the weight of the clutch pull and providelow-stress shifting during deceleration. The A&Shelps to reduce fatigue for the rider. This alsoprevents excessive engine braking, thus reducing itse�ects on chassis behavior. The A&S clutch makesfor smooth, enjoyable downshifts.
