Newsletter Newsletter Newsletter Newsletter Newsletter Bhanja Bihar, Nov 25: Berhampur University Vice- Chancellor Prof Deepak Kumar Behera Tuesday inaugurated the newsletter being published on the occasion of the 30th Inter- University Central Zone Youth Folk dancers steal the show Bhanja Bihar, Nov 25: Students performing folk dances with traditional attire stole the road show to mark the beginning of Yuva Prativa Parva - the 30th Inter- University Central Zone Youth Festival here on the premises of Berhampur University in Ganjam district Tueday. Bindia Soni, a chemistry student from Bundelkhand University at Jhansi in U t t a r Pradesh, performed in the road show which was taken out from the administrative block to the university ground. She played the role of Jhansi Rani Laxmi Bai. She was the star attraction of the Bundelkhand University Jhansi team. Similarly, the students of Central University of Orissa, Koraput performed popular tribal dance form 'Dhemsa' by clutching each other at the shoulders and waist to the tune of traditional musical instruments. Meanwhile, students of Berhampur University, the host of the mega event, participated in the 'Mashal Yatra' with Jodi Shankha troupes. Likewise, students of Bhopal's Barkatullah University cleaned the road while performing 'Clean India, green India' and those from MATS University, Raipur, 'Rawet' folk dance. The students of other universities like AISECT University (Bhopal), M.C. National University of Journalism and Mass Communication (Bhopal), Dr C.V. Raman University (Bilaspur), Indira Kala Sangeet Viswavidyalaya (Khairagarh), Sant Gadge Baba Amaravati University (Amaravati) also participated in the rally with different forms of traditional and modern dance to mark their identity during the show. According to official sources, altogether 610 students, representing 21 universities across the country, are participating in the festival organised by Berhampur University in collaboration with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi. The festival will feature 25 events, including music, dance, literary events, theatre and fine arts. The events will be held at senate hall, auditorium, M B A conference hall, new conference hall near the library and the distance education centre hall, added the sources. Speaking to mediapersons, Manmath Padhy, registrar of Berhampur University and also the chief patron of the festival, said out of Rs 41 lakh, which will be spent on the event, Rs 16 lakh will be provided by the AIU. Around Rs 2 lakh will be collected through registration fees from the participants, accompanists and team officials. The remaining fund will be met through cultural fees collected from each student every year. Last year, we had collected Rs 24 lakh as cultural fees," he indicated. Yuva Prativa Parva Newsletter inaugaurated Festival "Yuva Prativa Parva" here at the administrative building on the varsity premises in the presence of Registrar Prof Manmath Padhy and P.G Council Chairman Prof Prashant Kumar Padhy. Officials of Media and Public Relations Committee and student volunteers were present on the occasion. Yuva Prativa Parva newsletter is scheduled to have several issues during the occasion. - - -Sabitarani Dalbehera, Student, J&MC,BU Bhanja Bihar, Nov 25: The Inter-University Central Zone Youth Festival 'Yuva Prativa Parva' kicked off Tuesday here at Berhampur University with much fanfare. The 30th edition of the festival witnessed around 600 participants representing 21 universities. Chief Guest of the occasion, Director General of Police (Southern Range) Mr Amitabh Thakur formally inaugurated the festival by lighting lamps at an open stage on the varsity premises. Quoting former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi, Mr Thakur said, our civilization is old, but our country is new. Similarly, our culture is old, but our enthusiasm is fresh. The country has more than 50 per cent of youth population. They should take more and more responsibilities so that the country would be to build the nation, he invoked. Speaking about the host university, Mr Thakur said Berhampur University was completely devastated by cyclone Phailin last year. Despite all difficulties, it has managed to organize the mega event. Ganjam Collector Prem Chandra Chaudhary, who attended the meeting as a guest of honour, started his speech with a Hindi sayari -Ye mehphil apka hai, ye jamana bhi apaka hai… Tham lo abhi agar tum, to ye jamana nehi har tarana bhi apka hai… On the same line as other guests did, Mr Chaudhary students invoked the youths to come forward and take responsibilities with another sayari - Sikho samandar se jine ka salikha, Chup chap se behna aur apni mauz main rehna. Chaudhary also suggested no one should forget his own people and culture. He made another sayari to fit his words i.e. Beth jata hun aksar miti par, kyon ke mujhe apani aukat achhi lagati hai… He said one cannot change the world alone. He should make the entire society move with him. The sayari he made to fit this concept is Pehele main hosiyar tha, isiliye duniya badalne chala tha… Abhi main samajhdar hun, isiliye khud ko badalne chala hun… Vice-Chancellor Prof Deepak Kumar Behera, presiding over the meeting, said the festival provides a platform to express their talent and develop team spirit. Addressing the gathering, Mr Samson David, Joint Secretary, AIU, said the winning participants would get a chance to exhibit their skills at National Youth Festival at Indore during February 12 and 16 in 2015. Dr Sudhansu Pati, Mr Subash Maharana, Prof Pati Parameshawar, Prof Manmath Padhy, Prof PK Padhy and Prof Nihar Ranjan Mishra were also present on the dais. Student's Union president Dipak Pradhan and former president Bhabanikant Sahu also shared their feelings during the occasion. Festival, is all set to take partin the mega event with a teamof 37 members. As many as11 male and 26 femaleparticipants withaccompanists GaneshPattanaik (Song Director),Narayan Behera (DramaDirector), Jayalata Achary(Dance Director) willrepresent the varsity undertwo managers, KishoreKanhara and Mihir Tripathy.The participants from thevarsity will participate inevents like dance, drama, oneact play, mime, debate,elocution, quiz, music, lightvocal , solo vocal, skit, spotpainting etc.The Vice-Chancellor ProfDeepak Kumar Behera, theteam managers, and thestudents have a lot ofexpectation from the hostinguniversity. Some participants

namely Siddharth Sahu,Devbrat Pattnaik, JudhistirReddy, Manas Ranjan Swain,

Jagyansini Satapathy andSophia have shared theiroverjoyed feelings as they havegot a chance to represent themega event organizinguniversity.Devbrat Pattnaik, a student ofJ&MC Department, who isalso participate in vocal, lightvocal and classical vocal, saidhe is feeling proud to be a partof this event. This is anoccasion to interact withstudents of other universitiesregarding art and culture, heexpressed adding that he feelsexcited enough to show histalent in a broader platform.The university, which wasestablished in 1967, has amission to foster economicgrowth and enrich the culturaltradition of the South Odishaas well as other locations.

Host University Ready to shareIndira Kala SangitVishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh,Chhattisgarh would berepresented at Yuva PrativaParva by a team of 39members includingtwo teammanagers - MrKapil Singh Vermaand Dr Sivali Bais.The teamcomprises 21 maleand nine femaleparticipants. Theywould besupported byseven accompanists.Participants from theUniversity will show their talentin various events like one actplay, skit, mime, folk music,tabla, Bharat Natyam, painting,graphics, cartoon, rangoli,group song (vocal) and debate.Managers have expressed theirsatisfactions towards thehospitality, conveyance,accommodation andinfrastructure in the campus.

They also expressed that thelocals are very cooperativeand sensitive.Kavita, a female participantwho would perform Kathakali

in classical dance competition,said she is confident about herperformance. She expressedthat they would try their levelbest to keep the glory of theiruniversity, she added.One of the male participants,Ghanshyam Sahu said he isvery excited to represent hisuniversity. He will take part inone act play, mime and skit. Itis for the second time, he hasgot an opportunity to be a part

of the mega festival. He isinterested to learn about the artand culture of the Silk City aswell as Odisha. He felt, this is

a goldenopportunity toshare his art andculture with theparticipants ofother universities.The university, theoldest of its kind inChhattisgarh wasnamed after thedaughter of the thenrulers of

Khairagarh princely state. Thecampus of this Universitypresents a rare example offraternity and brotherhood.Teachers and students ofdifferent Faculties are fromdifferent parts of Country andvarious cultural backgrounds.Their presence at the campusmakes Khairagarh town a realheterogeneous place.

Bhanja Bihar, Nov. 26th: Yuva Prativa Parva 2014, the five day fest comprises of 25 events inmusic, dance, literary events, theatre and five arts. The events are being conducted during threedays 26th, 27th and 28th, November 2014. All the events will be conducted at 4 different venuesat (1) Biju Patnaik Auditorium, (2) New conference hall, (3) Senate hall and (4) MBA conferencehall / DEC/ Academic Block II in the Campus.

While events under music comprises of Classical vocal (Solo) / Hindustani/Karnataki,Classical Instrumental Solo, Light Vocal (Solo) ,Western Vocal Solo, Folk orchestra and Songs(Indian and Western), Folk / Tribal Dance, Literary events include Elocution, Debate and Quiz.Theatre events are spread over mime, Mimicry, Skit and One-Act play along with events in fineart such as painting on-the-spot poster making, collage, Cartooning, on-the-spot photographyand clay modeling, Rangoli and installation. Selected participants from zonal youth festivals will beinvited to perform in the Inter-University National Youth Festival to be conducted latter thisacademic session.

CUO to showcase tribal cultureduring Youth Fest

Central University of Orissa,Koraput is represented by a30-member team at the five-day gale of art and culture YuvaPrativa Parva. The teamincludes nine male participantsand 11 female participantsalong with eight accompanists.They would exhibit their skillsunder the supervision of twoteam managers. Except thehost university, CUO is theonly other university fromOdisha, which is taking part inthe event.The participants expressedtheir enthusiasm as they got anopportunity to express theirtradition and culture. AvinashHantal, a participant fromCUO, would take part in TribalDance, while MeenakhiMaharana would show up hertalent in Rangolee. Others willtake part in many events likeOne Act play, mime, skit, folk

dance, vocal, light vocal etc.CUO hopes to showcase tribalart and culture of South Odishain a greater platform.Speaking to the students ofJ&MC department of

Berhampur University,Rudrani, one of the teammanagers, said she is veryhopeful that their team would

perform well to showcase thetradition and lifestyle of Odisha.As the varsity is situated in atribal region of the state, itwould give thrust onshowcasing the tribal dance

and music in broader sense,she added.
