Introduction

In March 1985 the Management Committee of the Canada-Yukon Economic Development

Planning (EDP) Subsidiary Agreement identified the need for an annotated inventory of Yukon

economic planning studies. In December 1986 the Yukon Archives published the first annotated

bibliography that listed all relevant works published from 1965 to 1985. The Yukon Economic

Development department published two new editions in 1991 and 1996 which provided access to

additional titles that had been published since 1987.

Since 1996 there have been 3 major changes in the structure of the Yukon—devolution of some

federal responsibilities to territorial control occurred in 2003, 11 land claims agreements had

been signed, and by the early 2000s the Internet was being used by both government agencies

and the public on a daily basis.

In 2013 the existing three editions were scanned and made available on the Archives’ ebook

website: http://www.yukondigitallibrary.ca/Browse.aspx?action=browse&type=29.

By 2015 the Yukon Archives realized that a new bibliography was needed to provide easier

access to material published since the 1987 edition. Due to time constraints the scope of this

bibliography only includes titles published from 1999 to 2015 by both government and

non-government agencies. The listing includes planning documents, feasibility, infrastructure,

statistics, strategic and telecommunication studies on the Yukon, etc. The bibliography also

includes studies which are focused on socio-economics impacts and constraints on economic

development planning in the territory. These studies include housing, energy development,

health, poverty, etc.

These items in the bibliography are available for consultation in the Yukon Archives in

Whitehorse. Or you can contact the Yukon Archives for possible reproduction options.
