The Chinese learned from the

Mongol about how to form a

cavalry with their army.

A cavalry is an army of sol-

diers on horseback.

Both a saddle and stirrup,

which is a leather ring on the

saddle where a soldier put

his feet gave a soldier greater

control over his horse. Many

believe the Mongols were

some of the first to use stir-

rups.

Different groups in China had

their own building styles.

The Mongols were nomadic

and built yurts.

Yurts are rounded tents held

up by a wooden pole frame-

work.

They were covered by skins

and easy to move.

Kublai Khan died in 1294

and his successors are weak.

Rebellion breaks out and the

Ming Dynasty is formed in

1368.
