CONNECTBut I’m working to change that. Smith’s Center for Social Value Creation connected me to an internship at Brown-Forman, one of the world’s largest wine and spirits companies, and the parent company of Jack Daniels, Korbel and Southern Comfort, among other brands. Every day, I’m using my business strategy lessons to help keep drunk drivers off the road, teach kids about the dangers of binge drinking and hopefully save lives.

The University of Maryland is the only school that gives me the opportunity to explore the two cities I love the most:
YOU’LL BE AT ThE CENTER OF IT ALL.At Smith, you get the best of both worlds: a beautiful park-like campus in College Park, Md., in the heart of the
Washington, D.C., metropolitan region. Here, you are in the middle of some of the most exciting professional
and cultural opportunities in the world, not to mention resources that will connect you with leaders and policy-
makers who shape the national and international business landscape.
A PROFESSIONAL EdgEWashington, D.C.’s government agencies and nongovernmental
organizations. Northern Virginia and Maryland’s high-tech and
biotech corridors. Baltimore’s thriving banking, manufacturing,
legal, and health care industries. They are all easily accessible from
Smith’s campus — and even more so with Smith’s credentials.
A vIBRANT CULTURE Imagine spending a day at the U.S. Capitol, the Kennedy Center,
the Smithsonian Museums or even a Washington Nationals
baseball game. Few places are as culturally vibrant as the
D.C. region — or as geographically diverse. The waters of the
Chesapeake Bay, the beaches of Maryland’s Eastern Shore and
the trails of the Blue Ridge Mountains are all just a day trip away.
A POWERFUL ALUmNI NETWORKConnect with Smith alumni worldwide — including the largest
alumni base in the D.C. metro region. Our alumni base is more
than 50,000 strong and includes innovators and leaders in every
facet of business.
