Healthy lifestyle choices can make a big differenceThere are things you can do to reduce the risk
• Exercise/physical activity
• Healthy eating
• Talk to someone: don’t keep a problem to yourself
• Dental health
• Alcohol in moderation
• Stop smoking
• Annual physical health check with your GP
• Accessing affordable warmth programmes
• Humour: have a laugh.
• Keep appointments for health screening
• Sexual health (well women and men issues)
• Give up street (non-prescribed) drugs
• Maintain social contact and networks
• Healthy sleep patterns
• Develop a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP)

Physical health risks linked with serious mental illness
There are some potential physical health risks linked with serious mental illness. Examples include:
We will support you in:
• Carrying out a physical health check
• Getting and keeping a GP
• Attending your annual health check in primary care with your GP
• Identifying ways to improve and maintain your physical health and wellbeing.
We will provide advice and signposting for:
• Managing your medication
• Stop smoking advice
• Alcohol advice
• Dietary and healthy eating advice
• Lifestyle advice including physical activity
• Mental health issues.
Your mental health worker can help you to make healthy lifestyle choices
