Continuing to support
Tuturumuri School
Week 8, Term 4, 2016 From the Principal’s Chair Kia ora tena koutou katoa Welcome to our last newsletter for 2016 as we lead up into the Christmas holiday break. We have had an exciting term with lots of fun learning along the way. School End of Year Reports have been finalised and will be sent home with the students on Friday, 9th De-cember as well as Learning Profiles. The students will start new Profiles next year so these are not required back at school. The working bee was a huge success and lots of jobs accomplished. The gardens and grounds are looking great. The basketball hoop is up and in use by the students. Thank you to everyone who was able to help on the day. The Christmas Concert will be held in the Community Hall this year starting at 5.30pm. Could each family with children arrange a wrapped and clearly named gift to drop off at the hall at the beginning of the concert (maximum $10 in value). There will be a bag to put these into by the front door. We hope you are able to attend this and support the students. They have been practicing a number of small items to share with you. A programme will be sent out next week. On a sadder note, I have received the resignation of Heather Butler as Office Administrator/Teacher Aide and Cleaner. Heather is looking at relocating to Masterton in the near future and has had to make this hard choice. Heather has had a long affiliation with Tuturumuri School of 12 years and will be sorely missed by the students and staff. If there is anyone in the community that would like more information about any (or all) of these positons, please contact me. The va-cancies will be formally advertising mid December. Heather will be formally farewelled at the End of Year Concert. We had school photos of 25th November and held a Red and Black Day to raise money for the Canterbury schools affected by the earthquakes. This initiative was well supported by schools across the region. On behalf of the students, the Board of Trustees and the staff, we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year. Kind regards
Jo Mahoney

Tidy Kiwi Award Tidy Kiwi is given out to a student who has demonstrated care for our school and classroom environment. Garnier was the recipient of Tidy Kiwi in Week 8, for will-ingly helping with the seedlings. Watering, moving them and into and out of the sun as needed. School Pool update As the heating of the pool is expensive and has minimal use, the decision has been made to close the pool over the holiday break and will be up and running for Term 1.
School Values - E = Excellence
The students are working through the school values and to them “E” means
Excellence. Trying hard to achieve. Trying your best! Striving in your work.
Doing ordinary things extraordinarily well!
Teacher and Principal awards
Student Awards for Week 8, go to Reihana, for his booklet on Joseph Parker and Garnier for her booklet on Sir Edmund Hilary. James for ef-fort in maths and Pippa for enthusiasm in read-ing. Well done!

STUDENT VOICE
I am sure Santa is on the
emailing list but I thought I’d
share some of these….
Letters to Santa
Dear Santa…
Can I please have a Nerf gun and a lego set. I have been very good and I
have been doing jobs and tidying my bedroom. From Jacob
For Christmas, could I please have a good sharp knife that’s good for gutting
and skinning and could I please have a really warm wetsuit that keeps me
warm, some comfy jandals and some good binoculars. Thanks, George
For Christmas, can I please have bunch-o-balloons and way more toys. I
would like a watch—a good one—that is not a plastic one. From Pippa
I want a watch for Christmas. I want a toy princess. Love from Hannah
I have been feeding the dogs and I did the dishwasher today. I am saving
up for a new CRF150f motorbike then when I get it, I will be able to beat
Cole at motorbike races. I am selling my motorbike. I have already worked
for $620. I would be more than happy with $100 which would put me up to
$720. From Flyn
For Christmas, could I please get a 1kg bag of lollies because I like lollies. I
could eat them instead of spending lots of money and I could have them
over lots of days. Thank you, Santa. Yours sincerely, Reihana
YUMMY STICKERS, BREAD Bags and DENTAL
products for recycling
We are asking our community to once again send in their Yummy fruit stick-
ers and dental products to school. Also bread bags for Goodman Fielder
products. Including Sunny Crust (Bread, Buns and Wraps) Country Split,
Molenberg, Freyas and Vogels.
Merry Christmas
Hang the decorations on top a star, Merry Christmas everyone—Christmas isn’t far.
Santa gives you presents in his sleigh,
The good thing about presents is you don’t have to pay.
I can smell Christmas in the air, Santa’s sleigh is tied to reindeer.
Get a Christmas tree—a pine tree,
To decorate and put presents under for me.
Santa said Ho Ho Ho, Girls and Boys, Here are your bears, presents and toys.
Some remote control cars, helicopters and trucks
Here is a stuffed duck. And a four leafed clover—now you’ve got luck.
