Start-stop technology continues to drive change in the European aftermarket. Today, 90% of all newly produced vehicles have a start-stop system, which requires a more comprehensive energy supply than conventional cars with few electrical functions. This has already led to a change in the battery technology used by car manufacturers: The SLI battery has been replaced by precisely fitting AGM or EFB batteries.

Start-stop technology is nowadays also used in small and medium-sized passenger cars. These entry-level start-stop vehicles often have fewer comfort functions and electrical consumers and do not necessarily require an AGM battery, but are equipped with an EFB battery. However, the use of an AGM battery is always recommended in order to additionally increase fuel savings, reduce emissions, and provide reliable comfort functions.

When it comes to battery power, cars can be quite demanding. Important factors influencing the correct battery selection include the number of electronic consumers, the climatic conditions or the driving style (long or short distance). That’s why there’s a range of batteries according to what consumers need.
