Rosalie Robertson

Human Resource Manager

1898 Marketing Headquarters

3937 Sweet Bay Street

Norfolk, Virginia

[email protected]

Dear Ms. Rosalie Robertson,

I am writing to apply for The Social Media Content Coordinator position at 1898 Marketing. I discovered the position while

researching your company and thought that it was the perfect position for me to apply my experience and build a meaningful

career. I believe my educational background at Virginia Wesleyan College; along with my previous experience make me an

excellent candidate for this position.

Attending a liberal arts college has given me the opportunity to be a part of a rigorous and hands on academic program, which I believe gives me an unparalleled perspective when beginning my professional career. I have held many leadership positions during my time at Virginia Wesleyan College both in academic and social roles. In my current roles as the Marketing Intern for both Leutner Ranhorn LLC and Sodexo, I have had the opportunity to apply my knowledge of marketing principles and management strategies. In previous leadership positions I have headed marketing teams as well as managed accounts for businesses. Doing so required researching industries, surveying demographics, creative marketing strategies and personal networking.

I have a passion for working with others on a day-to-day basis and I enjoy being a part of a team. As a young adult, I had the

opportunity to live abroad for multiple summers in Spain where I took on the role of a volunteer ESL teacher. This

experience expanded my worldview and ignited my passion for travel. These factors have given me a unique perspective when

coming up with new and innovative ideas. Adapting to different cultures has proven to be an essential asset when working

with others.

I understand the importance of customer service, organization, and maintaining a positive and professional organizational

image when acting as a liaison among clients, departments, and the general public. I have the ability to independently handle

multiple tasks, work with a wide variety of technologies and develop rapport and communicate effectively with diverse

constituencies.

I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you further regarding my experience, skills, and becoming a part of the 1898

Marketing team. I know I can make a positive contribution as a part of the leadership in implementing the goals and mission

of the organization.

Sincerely,

Roberta Marlin

The National Sports Center for the Disabled Metro Program Internship 1801 Mile High Stadium Cir. Ste 1500 Denver, CO 80204

Dear National Sports Center for the Disabled,

I am writing to apply for the Metro Program Internship position at the National Sports Center for the Disabled. I learned of the position through researching adaptive sports and recreation therapy. I believe my education, experience, and personal background give me the necessary skills to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.

Currently I am a senior at Virginia Wesleyan College preparing to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Recreation and Leisure Studies with a concentration in Recreation Therapy. Through my studies I have gained a wide range of knowledge within the field of Recreational Therapy including volunteering with aquatic and adaptive sports programs, planning and assisting community outings, and interacting with individuals with a range of disabilities. Completing an internship in spring 2016 under a CTRS would serve as the required capstone experience for the degree program. This involves completing a total of 560 credited hours within a span of fourteen weeks, beginning mid-January to May. Through participating in a workshop with wounded veterans in an adaptive sports clinic, I found my passion for adaptive sports and have centered my career goals on working in that specific area.

When determining the type of population I would like to work with, Adaptive Sports was a specific area I knew very little and would love to expand my knowledge in. Since that day, my love for this area has only grown larger. Even though my experience in this area isn’t large, I would love to have the opportunity to learn and explore such a beneficial form of recreational therapy with you and your facility.

I have gained a large amount of experience working with individuals with a range of disabilities including both physical and developmental, through a variety of programs and events targeting care for each individual’s needs. I have been able to learn a variety of valuable skills including documentation, assessment, interventions, and implementing programs through volunteer opportunities and experience outside of the classroom. As a volunteer in aquatic programs, I assisted individuals with physical and developmental disabilities, gaining hands on experience and insight towards the benefits of such programs. By engaging in various workshops, seminars, and classroom involvement, I have further enhanced my knowledge of recreation therapy and developed my professional skills within the field.

After learning about your facility, I believe my experience will provide a positive addition to your team as my knowledge, skills, and abilities are put into practice to help those in need of our services. I am fully aware of the responsibilities of an intern including commitment, work ethics, and involvement during my time under the CTRS. Experiencing such an internship will give new insight into the field I am planning to work in as well as the chance to learn in an area for which I have a great passion. I believe the results of my hard work and dedication will be seen throughout my time in the internship.

I welcome the opportunity to speak with you further about my qualifications and the NSCD internship program. Thank you for taking the time to review my application and plan to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

First Last
