Year 9 Spanish Summer Assessments
Weeks beginning 11th and 18th of May 2009
Listening and Reading
You need to revise the following topics and points of grammar:Parts of the bodyAches, pains and illnessesFree time and holiday activities in the present, past and future tensesLikes and dislikesTypes of television programme
Writing
The writing exam will be based on illness. It will be a picture story/cartoon strip and you will be asked to respond by writing in speech and/or narration to describe the story shown by the pictures. You will want to try to include references to the present, past and future and opinions.
Speaking
• The speaking exam will be based on film and cinema. You will have the questions in advance written down and you may prepare at home before the day. Your teacher will NOT check or mark that preparation work. When doing the assessment, you will NOT be able to refer to any of your notes, but you will have the picture stimulus in front of you.
• You may prepare answers to the questions below, but remember, they will not be marked prior to the exam so you need to check your answers thoroughly. Also remember that in order to gain the highest marks, you will be asked additional questions that you will not have prepared in advance.
¿Qué tipo de película es ésta?¿A qué hora empieza?¿A qué hora termina?¿Cuánto cuesta la entrada?¿Te gusta? ¿Por qué (no)?¿Qué tipo de película (no) te gusta?¿Cuándo fue la última vez que fuiste al cine? ¿Cómo fue?¿Qué tipo de programa te gusta en la tele?¿Qué prefieres, ir al cine o ver la tele? ¿Por qué?
This is the marking scheme:
Level 2: Short, simple (one or part phrase) responses to 3 of 5 questions. Pronunciation is approximate but meaning clear.
Level 3: Answers of whole phrase length to some questions. Pronunciation is intelligible. Questions readily understood.
Level 4: Answers in complete sentences. Pronunciation generally accurate; sentences mostly have correct verb forms. Opinions & reasons included with linking words. Some hesitancy still.
Level 5: Pupils do as for level 4 but include reference to the future or the past. Delivery quite fluent and good pronunciation. Speaker sounds like s/he knows what s/he’s saying.
Level 6: As for level 5 (delivery confident and pronunciation good) but clear use of 3 time frames (present, past and future) Formation may not be perfect of each tense but meaning will always be clear. May also ask questions as well as answer them.
Level 7: As for level 6 but pupils can answer additional unprepared questions.
Here are some of the slides from the lessons with useful vocabulary
